I’m not too surprised. Lacroix uses these at pretty low settings, choosing them because of things like their sealed design and extra support bearing which should theoretically make these more reliable motors.
But also… I wonder how many voltages can we put through them…
I mean, it’s good to find it out before having them on the board. Many of us DIY fellas should be able to countersink some holes even with a hand drill for sure. Is it extra work? Yes. Did we get health-messing-ly scammed? Yeah, we did.
For $150 a pop you get to: Fix the shitty plate screws, replace the shitty shielded support bearing, run them at 30amps… what a deal…
Stick to open maytechs or TB6380.
Yeah, definitely a bummer. But for ~$120 shipped to my door, I’m still happy. Maybe I’ll punch some holes in the bell housing end when I have it apart to change the support bearings.
