Day 7,

Take it easy, 100km

Departure from “Montpellier” escorted by three other riders, and this on 30ish km, we ride cool, beautiful landscapes. We make a good part on a superb bicycle, the pink flamingos on our left and the mountains of salt on our right, which will be replaced by horses and rice once arrived in the “Camargue”. 8km of real AT stoned, it was sport. We are tired, the heat is really felt, the mechanics are also heating up, and the campsite we were supposed to go to is closed  went hop 10km more, to finally arrive on a cool campsite.

Day 8 with 24 hours delay

80km

From Arles to Châteauneuf-les-Martigues, worst day of ride I think, no good road, almost only main roads, except at the beginning in the morning when we went to get stuck in a path difficult to ride, until we were blocked by water, it was flooded, then it was road and road again. We stop 20km from Marseille, from there, the good Vit Cmpn joined us to have a bite to eat and to taste some hopped up drink, in a typical bar, the Tuches would have arrived, we wouldn’t have been surprised, we had a lot of fun, it was a very nice evening! We met at the campsite a certain Simon, an Austrian who’s on his way by bike from Salzburg to Portugal, very nice, we exchanged a lot, and I’m the first person on earth to have heard Alexis speak “English”, the road was rotten, but once we arrived, the evening was just happiness.

Looks fun gents if a little grueling due to the continuous tyre problems…so for 2021 why not have a stock of the phatty at wholesale prices?

Maybe they are more comfortable and puncture/deform less due to load spread?

They seems to be good, but for the next trip we’re going to choose 10" tires with thin profile i think. But i will take a look a the GB cause the price us really good. Do you know if they fit superstar hubs?

The phatty tires don’t fit superstars nor do the 9" T2 but the road tires will fit :grinning:

They do fit with these adapters

Thanks, i need to check that when we’re going back home😉

Day 9, 24 hours late too😅

:star_struck:Attention we’re having a blast :star_struck:

80 miles, probably the best day since the beginning.

In the morning, 20km to reach Marseille, the climb to get there is great, it’s superb, there a small team of riders are waiting for us, then also first meeting with my bro @Vanarian with whom I exchange for a while behind screens, so nice to meet us each other for real
The crossing of Marseille was a bit bumpy, it’s like crossing Paris three times, we even got lost with Alexis in the traffic. Under an overwhelming heat we have lunch together, then we attack the serious ascent of “Gineste”, Vanarian on roller skates left us before the climb after having given everything, the esk8rs are doing a part of the climb with us, it was hottt. We are leaving, then the explosion of the landscapes is crazy with this “route des crêtes”, that we can translate in “road of the peaks” after “Cassis”, the creeks and everything, breathtaking, lots of nice curves, people incredulous facing the fact that we climb slopes at 30% with our machines and the weight that goes with it, it made Vesc and engines heat up, because 30km during they have been put to hard test but everything is well managed, no material problems. We arrived in La Ciotat, we connect and charge the batteries to the harbour sockets, we leave towards “St Cyr sur Mer”, to spend the night in “Sanary sur Mer”.

What a day !

Day 10, 18 hours late.

We’re back to the three numbers, 100km today.

From “Sanary”, we rode to “Ste Maxime”

A classic day with beautiful roads and less interesting roads, we went in “Toulon”, “Carqueiranne”, “Hyères”, where there was a good cycling on about a big 10 kilometers. Recharge break at “Le Lavandou” harbour, to ride to “St Tropez”, on a main road, it was quite long, with threatening clouds, which earned us the first little rain of the trip, we took shelter under a bus shelter, the road dried quickly and we left not too wet. We will finally deviate “St Tropez” because otherwise it was 20km more, to go to sleep in “Ste Maxime”, 101km round from our final destination, Monaco.

That’s so dope. I’m going on the atlantic coast next month in the Landes near Dax. I want to take the board and do small jump between villages, my family down there tells my that local cops are nazis and i could loose my stuff. Have you ever run in any trouble ?

Awesome and inspiring trip/thanks for sharing. I do wish I saw this or the preparations made before departure.

I would have told you to invest in some hard shore alieexpress tires, as any stock tires from mbs or trampa will only typically last for 250 km before either becoming skinny/developing issues such as flats due to small sharp pebbles or the bulges you encounted.

@Sigmur we don’t get any problems with the cops for now, we’ve come across police cars on quite big roads and they took one look at us but We didn’t see them again after, every time we meet them we cross our fingers, but no problem so far. The only one who speak to us was to say us kind words about what we were doing and they where curius!

Yeah french cops seem to not care or have more important stuff to care :stuck_out_tongue:
Let’s hope it’ll stay like this

Day 11

75km

:warning:Breathtaking landscapes:warning:

Departure from “Ste Maxime” this morning, road a bit bumpy, a lot of real AT in beautiful hills, lots of rocks… for nothing because wrong road, we leave this nightmare although magnificent, and it’s another hernia or tire for Alexis :woman_facepalming: change of tires, we go back to “Fréjus” where we will follow the coast until our arrival, passing by the “Esterel” and its splendid road in the creeks, at the same level of the road of the crests of Marseille, I would say even better, a pure delight under the feet and in the eyes, and this until Cannes, dope!!! Stop in “Cannes” then we go back to “Antibes”, where we saw gigantic yachts. We make a stopover, the last one, between Cannes and “Nice”.

TOMORROW (today)IT IS THE ARRIVAL :fire:
