Forget the grip use Glass Frit

That’s what @longhairedboy used to do. He has a full walkthrough on his main site on crushing coke bottles.

Damon is the glass frit god and the one and only pioneer with this technique!

How is the glass frit when riding in the rain or in wet conditions compared to conventional grip tape - more, less or as slippery?

It’s true. I still have the “grip churn” I made out of a cinderblock, steel tube, and big ass steel threaded rod I used to use to smash and grind the glass. plus two grocery store screen strainers to grade the resulting frit.

I also still have some bags of glass from the Coke, Dos Equis, and Skyy Vodka bottles I used to get different colors for a couple of customs I did.

I never throw anything away, or even sell it… lol I desperately need to have a garage sale.

I’m kinda scared but also interested in what we would find in your garage if we went through it for a garage sale

everything from 13S BMSs and chargers I haven’t used yet that I’ve had for over a year to r-spec 5055s from the 6S days. there may even be a TorqueBoards Opto ESC laying around here somewhere.

assuming the spiders don’t trip you so the mosquitos can take your wallet.

I think I just saw a set of gen1 hummie hubs.

I wonder where you could post stuff that you have for sale and not pay any fees.

If only there was some sort of place online where people could get together, and talk about things… and sell them. Some sort of… forum.

It’s too bad something like that doesn’t exist.

Has someone tried hydro dipping the deck first and then doing this crazy glass frit thing? Or is that impossible since the sanding will erase the hydro dipped colors (talking about a hydro film here)? @Sender may be?

If you hydro dip then clear coat over it the you should be fine.

I haven’t but am “hydro curious”

Does this mean you are sexually attracted to bodies of water?

One sec; so I do the hydro dipping as usual and then put some clear coat over - I always do that anyway.

Then sand the deck and go for the glass friting procedure?

I guess I will just try it. However, I also know from experience that sanding usually erases all the artwork from the hydrographic film even if a clear coat has been put at the end of the procedure. Even more so if a corse (50-100 instead of 400) sanding is used, I guess, which in turn is needed for for the epoxy-glass-frit procedure to work if I understood correctly?

Has anyone actually tried hydro dipping the deck and then applying the glass frit?

And I was sure you that you had tried already

I have this hydro dip kit sitting here waiting for my wife to try out on a deck. Alcohol inking would be much easier and cleaner I think.
