FOC_KING - 84V 150A, open source vesc6 board V2.0.1. JLCPCB order

But it’s a pain in the :ok_hand:. Not easy to find room for something on the backside without complete redesign. (IMU connected through I2C btw).

JLCPCB go to :fire:

What can be done with the TX4130L/PW2902?

And another solution is “The size (TSOT-23-5) of this part does not match the size (SOT-23-5) specified in your specification. Please confirm.” Is this normal? Also, some components are not marked by default, for example TYPE-C-31-M-12 - is this specially done? What for?

had the same problem just check the items, and preorder the tx4130 separately than you can add it.

While I am waiting on the new order without the IMUs , i thought I build up another PILL from scrap. (Old test bords). I soldered one of
the new bmi270 and it also worked first try.

Its missing one resistor (maybe I forgot to solder it) , but the USB-C works no problem … @jens_overby : The video on the IMU soldering I will do with the new FOC-KINGS

I don’t really understand how to do this…
Could you please explain in more detail?

I can’t choose it, are you able to choose it now?

you need to click on the tx part and buy it from others. than you can select it in your own lib

I know tested the new patch for the FOCKING. You need a heat gun and low temp melting solder otherwise its not really working (working on the video tomorrow) .
BUT! I tested something else. If you solder an external bmi160 to the 2 resistors for the internal imu and 3.3v + ground it works like it is an internal imu.

if we work on a solution for that maybe pin where you cann solder down this bmi160 board it should be quite easy to add a imu for cheap @jens_overby what do you think?

There is also something i found out. The empty PCBs are Pre-Tinned so its very easy to solder the imu. If you order the VESC without the imu its not pre-tinned and you have to prepare the pads before soldering the imu which is much more difficult to handle . Its doable but not for everyone …

Ok one more update. I have not found my low temp solder yesterday and had to use my regular leaded solder with 450 degree. I would not recommend that it was a real pain, but i got it to work. I had to pre-tin the pads on the imu under the digital microscope . I did the same thing to the pads on the PILL. After that i cleaned everything with isoprop and a q-tip. I aligned it with a twizer and pushed it down. After applying some heat the solder (a LOT OF HEAT xD) eventually melted and made a solid connection. I don’t think thats good for the component, but I have to wait for another day to get the new solder … (140 degree)

Just curious - why pre-tin with solder rather than using solder paste; or were you just out of solder paste?

yes i havent found it. It should be somewhere …

Thinking back, i had success with low temp solder paste on a hot plate with assembled pcbs from jlc, i did my bms prototypes this way.

That might work nicely and it can be done with very fine sand and a pan on a stove

Hi there. What is the status on the files in github, all good to order some boards? I presume github main is version 2. Any thing I should watch out for in missing/replacement parts at present. Many thanks

… also Is there a howto for installing the new machined sockets. I’m not sure if the CPU board goes above or below the main board, as I have seen photos of both in this thread. (Some photos of the stack would be good, and an update to the assembly instructions) Also, are connections now made with 22awg solid wire as per the video example. Thanks.

I figured it out from schematics. Its alive now :star_struck:

I ordered 5 assembled PCBs without BMI and tx4132 buck converter soldered. I ordered both parts seperately and soldered them by myself.
I managed to get the Pill working, but the power pcb doesn’t work. Seems like the tx4132 doesn’t turn on. I tried by shorting the PINS 1&2 of the JST connector and also shortened the two pads on the back of the power pcb. The Output stays at 0V.
The 5V part seems to work. If I apply 12V to the input pin of the xlsemi, the LED turns on and I get 5V at the output.
Can anyone give me a hint what could be wrong?

@jens_overby Hi Jens, I am trying to run MESC on this board. Can you share the files you changed for this port? I had a go at the header file, but it looks like other changes need to be made?

Appreciate any help.

I will try to find the file for you…
