its public since 2 day (repo and code), but if someone … (pi**es me off) you have to search for yourself on github. I mean how bitty can you be to act like this just because of some number changes in a config file …
also the file is already here in this thread
@jens_overby Just to verify this. The momentary switch is hardware based, there is nothing in the firmware for it to work is this correct? I was going throw the commits and i just found changes to the power board itself. (hardware)
It is hardware based, yes. This means (for the moment), automatic shutdown is not possible.
On more question for ADC1 and ADC2 i need to use CUR1 and CUR2 ? It need them for the foodpad sensor . Is this correct?
Thats not a bad thing, for Onwheels, automatic shutdown would mean … Nosedive
He means automatic shutdown after x minutes of no input. And no motor movement.
I say next time they request this of you in a stupid way you should purposely make it hard for them to find. You had good intentions from the start.
@jack.luis the license is very clear, it’s not hard to understand. If anyone doesn’t want to follow it, they can choose to not use it. Also it helps everyone, even those who choose not to use it, so not sure why you’re so against GPL.
You seem like the king of beating a dead horse. We could have just waited for him to post it and I could have been less harsh, but it’s mostly you that is doing the beating now.
I hope you have a wonderful day and whatever makes you unhappy gets better soon.
You’ve shown this is your MO. You need to hear that’s it’s annoying af
finally after my vacation, I got it to work . Momentary switch is to twitchy so i needed to turn on the board with a different lock switch. I destroyed one freedrive prototype because i got a short with the heat sink screws against the mosfett through hole. i used nylon screws on the other board this was working. During the assemble i had another issue with the power board for some reason the small cap on the power board on the vin shorted out and destroyed the trace on the board so i needed to connect the current sensing with a wire. It was with 20s. I hope the cap died because i reused the power board from the other board with the new power board this seams to work. Here is a short video after I managed to calibrate the complete board I am going very slow this board is fast. The only issue i have at the moment is a wrong speed calculation i need to fix the wheel parameters in the VESC settings:
Sorry for the bad video but it is getting late today:
Here is a better video from today after fixen some vesc parameters and small hardware issues.
Max Speed i tried was 30.4kph with around 45% duty cycle . This thing is a monster. 30kph was easy like a walk .
@jens_overby I will test how good it works with 20s but so far i have like 5-6 km on this board and everything seams to work flawless.
… but I am still a bit stressed till i get confidence in the overall build ,-)
Here another video i did a 9 km run on the street, dirt road and even grass and forest roads. All in all there was challenging terrain but the fets were 50° C max.
I charged the board to 100% and did the test:

i still taking it slow , still need to build trust in the board so today i went 25.4 max. I keep you posted on the perfomance of the free drive. At the moment it is doing very well!
@jens_overby
I have compiled a short feature list which would be nice to have, if there will be a new version of the free drive:
-
There needs to be a solution to fix the Push button (maybe I have the wrong button). For my use case this needs to be bullet proof.
-
I made a VESCExpress from a ESP32-c with a small CAN-bus breakout board. If we could make some room where this could be added directly on the free drive (maybe as option if you like to have this feature) it would be great.
( ESP32-C3, TJA1050 (CANBUS-shield)) -
For the LEDs I am using a Ardunio connected to the tx/rx pad of the free drive. If there would be a DATA Out for e.g. “WS2812B” (and a dedicated 5V rail) that would be a nice to have
With that features the build would be much cleaner. Other than that everything seams to work great. Thx for your hard work!
Markus
Also I guess we need to change to a different IMU. Its getting harder and harder to order with a BMI160 i guess.
Maybe we should use ICM-20948 (with some adaptations to the board it should work to implement this footprint)
@jens_overby are you still on the project?
Sry fixed some issues. I dont know if something like this will work but with that we should have some alternative to the bmi160.
@jens_overby Hello!
I really need the help of the best engineer
I want to place an order with the Nextpcb manufacturer.
Can you help with uploading bom and cpl files?
What do they want? Centroid File?
