Flipsky VX4 remote

Are spare receivers available somewhere?

The firmware to update the gear lock is on the remote, not the receiver.

Got the watch-face protector in. Works fine. One dollar well spent.

I would say 30mm is a smidgin small. 32mm or 34mm would have been better.

Seems you can only buy these from apex? Flipsky aren’t offering them on their website

Says on apex’s website their version offer voltage readout.

This has been corrected now.
This was the plan but there wasn’t an obvious place for it to go without a full redesign of the layout. Not saying it won’t happen, just not yet.
The changes we have made so far are reduction of the hardware deadband. So they you can adjust the deadband if your liking in the vesc tool. Originally there’s a deadband that can’t be reduced further as it is fimware implemented.
We’ve also got gear lock option in the settings so you can toggle speed mode lock so that there’s no chance of the low speed being engaged on a landing or crash by mistake.
And of course the apex startup screen.

Is the deadband adjustment you mention in uart mode only?
Ppm seems to be fine as it can be dialled in.

That’s interesting as I’ve never used one with ppm. I’ll have to do some looking into it.
You can dial the remote in uart mode too, just not as intuitively. You dial it in in the “Vesc remote” tab. However, if you reduce deadband here. Before the update, you still couldn’t get the remote to start from the first micro push of the throttle. @Jeep pointed this out to us.

I hate the braking with uart but they fixed the throttle going forward

You can change settings on this though? What is it you don’t like?

There is a point between 0 and 1 that the brakes almost lock up… If you just touch it, can be dicey… I’ve tried many different adjustments and it’s still there but if I simply just pull back it’s fine. You only really notice this on the board at speed, not on the table.

I don’t have this with ppm.

I explained this to flipsky after the update but they just blew it off and I changed to ppm.

That’s weird. I’ve not experienced this. I’ve done hundreds of miles now using this remote.

I was trying to think if I had too, as I’ve also done a few hundred. I don’t think I have

My first one started experiencing some flutter though at a very specific throttle point but idk why yet

The potentiometer unit has changed since the earlier models. Perhaps there’s an underlying reasoning for this.

Maybe that’s it also. Mine is one of the first sent out.

I have a second one that I bought recently. Might try it on uart see if there’s a difference, I’m using a davega on both boards also so uart is kinda pointless for my setup.

Anyone know if you can use PPM with UART on a stormcore 60D by using ppm cable and using the rx3 and tx3 from the side UART port for remote telemetry? I have a Davega plugged into the front UART port but wanted to try and keep the Davega and use remote data as well.

I know this can be done on a 60D+ with 5.3fw, not sure about 60D

Dang which I knew that before I ordered those jump drives :joy:

There’s a chance I can get these out by post which’ll make them more reasonable.

Interesting, I’ll have to try it. I asked Lacroix about using the side UART port and they said in fw 5.3 it is enabled on Stormcores (60D too I’m assuming?) He said to make sure both devices are pulling less than 1 amp from both UART ports as they work independently but draw from the same power source.
