Flipsky bluetooth no power?

I’ve got my Dual FSESC6.6 based upon VESC6 set up and seems to run on the VESC Tool Ok. But per their video, when you connect the 3 pin connector to the 6 pin blue tooth module the blue light should come on and it isn’t. So I’m having lo luck pairing the remote to the VESC… Am I’ missing something (hopefully) ?

Thanks.

connect those 3 wires to this 3 pins

I think that’s what I’ve done. ?

On the VESC, the wires were already attached. White - PPM, Red - 5V, Black - -(Ground)

On the bluetooth module the pins are labeled S, 5V, -, VTX, VRX, V

The manual says White to SIN, Red to 5V, and Black to ground. That’s how I have them plugged in…

They also included a 5 cable connector with one cable (white) not connected to anything. And a single blue cable with a single connector on one end and striped on the other…

i think it should be these 3, which it looks like u have wired it differently in the photo?

vs
fs

that’s for the receiver to know how many voltages u r at, u can wire the striped part to the V+ on ur battery directly, then ur remote indicator will work

Hmmm, the wires to the VESC came soldered as is… I just plugged in the Bluetooth module… they are definitely soldered on the USB1 side of the board.

Well I plugged the 5 pin connector in and the white wire to the battery positive… still no blue indicator light on the blue tooth… I’ve reached out to Flipsky but I doubt I get a quick response. I guess the bluetooth adapter is dead… thanks for your help.

This is the reciever for the VX1 remote

The bluetooth module from Flipsky looks like this:

Reciever can be connected to PPM or UART
The single blue cable is used to show the battery voltage on the remote, and goes from battery positive to V on the receiver

I’m basically following this video. At 1:55 he plugs the three pin connector to S, 5V, and Gnd respectively. And the blue light shows up. Mine does nothing. The VESC has power and works with setting up the motors. I’ve checked connectivity with my volt meter and it checks out. I believe the module shown by @bollen is older. The one I have (for whatever reason) has the V, VRX, VTX pins but nothing connects to them. The three wires were soldered in place by Flipsky on the USB 1 side of the VESC.

And since they are China and I’m USA, they are asleep… Maybe I can chat with them online at 3 AM tonight?

Anyway. I did plug in the older (?) cable with the RX TX connections, and connected to V+ on my battery… no difference.

I’m running VESC Tool 3.0 and updated firmware… don’t think that should matter with power but I tried it anyway…

Thanks for your help.

@MarkVa1 I’m confused now are you trying to connect your remote or are you trying to connect the FSESC to your phone?

Ok now I’m confused here.
Are you trying to connect the ESC via bluetooth or are you connecting the remote?

Also what remote are you using?

@bollen seems like he has a VX1 receiver so imma assume that’s what he has

seems like we’re all confused now

Vx1 BLE version with telemetry confirmed?

Sounds reasonable to me, only explanation really

The remote is labeled VX1. The VESC purchased was labeled “Dual FSESC6.6 Based upon VESC6 with Aluminum Heatsink Mini Size × 1” - it’s no longer available as far as I can tell, you have to buy it with the power switch.

Anyway. Some pictures hopefully help.

I cannot pair the remote to the bluetooth. I can’t pair anything to the bluetooth receiver as it seems to have no power. I ran the pairing routine on the remote and it doesn’t find the receiver. No indicator lights on the receiver are flashing.

The only connection I see on the Flipsky website is the 3 prong connector so I’m assuming , S, 5v, Gnd provides power for the bluetooth receiver to operate. The older version seems to have 4 wires (I assuming its older)…

I’m guessing the bluetooth receiver was dead on arrival…

did it work before ?

if not it might be shortted somewhere, I had the same issue with another remote

you could also try connecting the receiver directly into the fsesc plug
