Well, if you’re on 63xx and have 10mm of clearance, a 74xx motor should still have about 4-5mm of clearance lol.
Haha yeah I’m aware, but that’s my “by-eye guess” need to actually get calipers out and measure to make sure.
Sure, I could get another 63100 motor and save myself some money. But my subconscious wants to try some new motors, and then have an extra motor to use on some other shenanigans. A drift trike or a buddy board haha.
I’m also just not impressed with flipskys “battle hardened” motors.
Well, if you decide the 7490’s are up your alley, just shoot me a PM haha.
SKP 6395 shill here
I am running some 170KVs Flipsky 63100s on one board right with a Stormcore 60D+ (set to 100A max motor per side) with 9” tires and 3.45 ratio. Pretty decent power even at 10S. So far no issues however I suspect at least the hall sensors might not last long. I had some Boardnamics 6384s (which I think are rebranded Flipsky) and the hall sensors only lasted for about one year.
I have some of the Apex 6384s on another board and these also appear to be rebranded Flipskys (they even come from Apex in the Flipsky box) but not sure if Apex are doing any other mods to them.
I have some of the SKP 7490s on the way and am excited about them but also a little concerned about stuff getting into the open vents.
From my experience owning the 7490’s, if you’re traveling at any speed, the motors are spinning fast enough to just knock stuff away from the vent holes anyways, and should anything manage to get in, it’s really no big deal. These things are crazy beefy and just do not care.
