First Real Build | (Need a Name) | 12s Custom Lipo Setup | Mono 6374 | Custom CNC Deck & Motor Mounts

Hello everyone, my name is Anshul Bajaj. I am 15 years old. I am a maker, designer, entrepreneur, and machinist. I have been running CNCs, laser cutters, and 3d printers since I was 12 years old. I have been making longboard decks for the last three years. In the last year I got into machining metal. The goal of this built was to make as much as I could and keep the board as affordable as possible.

Here is the board. (Please comment name suggestions)

The deck was custom machined by me. I drew the board outline in illustrator. I then glued up the ply sheets and put the stack into a hydraulic press. I then cut the deck out on a CNC I built last year. The deck was then stained this dark cherry and was coated in wipe on poly.

The motor mount was also custom machined. The mount was drawn up in onshape CAD. The cam was then done in camlab and milled out on an xcarve cnc. Both the motor plate and clamp took 35 minutes to run. I 3d printed a multitude of versions (tried the enertion style as well). I finally settled on a design that took some cues from torqueboards and boardnamics, but I also threw in my own ideas.

I wrapped the motor in carbon fiber vinyl to add some extra flare!

Upgrades:

Black anodize the motor mounts
3d print cover for torqueboards enclosure slot
Hexagon griptape
Paint over/cover TB logo

Total Board Price:

Deck Plywood + supplies: $25
Caliber II Trucks (used, like new, Amazon last year): $25
Motor mount aluminum: $5.50
Flywheels (used): $40
TB enclosure: $15
6374 sk3: $70
4x3s Turnigy Lipos: $90
Ebay Bms: $6
4.12 FSESC (new on ebay): $55
AntiSpark Switch: $35
Extra bolts, nuts, drill bits, etc: $13.50

TOTAL: $380

Boy I really need to replace the carboard cover!

This is awesome, and totally the spirit of DIY. Your skill with (and access to) so many different types of equipment for fabrication is enough to make anyone jealous, regardless of your age. Keep on building and creating brother!

How are your custom parts working for you so far? Is your motor mount staying put?

Bad ass. I wish I had your fabrication skills at the age of 15. Keep up the awesome work.

everything works great. The clamp is very secure. 10-32 everything ('MERICA).

Thanks. I have always enjoyed making things. But in the last few years I have really tried to step it up. Currently I have my 3d printers running face shields for the local hospital! Planning to make a few hundred!

Hey man really nice work wish I was as smart as you when I was 15. I ran into that issue with that enclosure as well. Used some clear plastic (think I cut up a Tupperware) on the inside with hot glue to dustproof/“waterproof” it.

That is a good idea. I may laser cut and engrave a small plexiglass plate.

If you do I’ll buy two off you. Get creative and do some cool designs in the glass. Maybe some circuitry or lighting or flames! Yeah do flames

I was thinking circuitry. I will let you know. I started a non profit with some friends a few years ago. Our goal is to spread stem tech in the schools in our community. Our old middle school gave us a large space. Our laser cutters are in there right now, sadly schools are closed rn, so I cannot access to the laser. But, I will work on some designs!
