First build - Toy's R US deck | Cheap ass motor mount and motor

So I had a 6374 motor and a VESC-X left over from an ebike project and decided I should do something with them.

Found a random longboard for $20 on facebook and it turns out to have been sold by Toys R US.

It actually rides pretty well with 90mm wheels and decent bearings.

Used a cheap Vanpro motor mount and remote. The remote works well but the mount keeps getting loose, the screws are not backing out but the pot metal used in the truck is getting squished. A set of Torqueboards trucks and a proper mount are on there way.

For now I am using a pair of 4Ah 4s lipos and it gets plenty of power but only around 10 km or range. I have found a battery builder who is working on a 10s3p flat pack for me. Plan is to use a 3d printed enclosure.

It has been great getting out on these early spring days and cruising around. I rode a bit when I was young but this is such a better experience than trying to kick on a shitty road.

AMEN!
haha, the gateway board. My first board was similar in its… frugality…
Those trucks you just ordered? That’s just the beginning…

Yeah it starts out with these parts are just laying around anyways. A few weeks and thousands of dollars later…

Got my new battery. 10s3p pack with a Smart BMS.

Turns out my rough estimate for enclosure dimensions was just about perfect.

3 days of 3d printing later I have an enclosure. Going to take a bunch of finishing work to complete it but it looks good so far. The large openings in the rear are the size of the heatsink for the Cheap Focer 2.

Did a revision on the dual Cheap Focer 2 enclosure.

The product listing suggests an age range of 6-7 years.

Age is just a construct.
