First build - need help/advice battery build and parts

Hello everyone,

After riding for a while on boosted board, I am doing my first build.

I would like to know if the choice of components works well together and if my battery diagram seems ok?

  1. (Single) FSESC 6.6 from Flipsky
  2. (Single) 6384 Flipsky 190KV
  3. Wireless Bluetooth Module 2.4G Flipsky
  4. Try to build a 12s4p - 44.4v 60A with 48 Samsung 30Q
  5. BMS is SuPower (batterysupports) 12s 60A

flip the flipsky stuff for torqueboards.

Especially for a single

Unfortunately with my budget the choice is limited. I forgot to specify that I live in Switzerland and that the shipping costs and specialy the duties are enormous if it comes from Europe or the USA. With Aliexpress I don’t pay for it. There is a trade agreement with China.

ohhh assumed you were in the USA. Nevermind then.

Flip sky is sort of hit or miss

Some end up with awesome stuff others end up with junk

Any advice about the battery connection ? It’s right ?

technically yes, if you want the discharge to be controlled by the bms, typically that’s not suggested cause the BMS could cut power from the vesc. to bypass that, run b- and b+ to the vesc. the BMS still needs the b- connected for charging, just don’t run anything from BMS to ESC. for power on/off you could use a loopkey

Ive got a couple 6374s if your interested. Im in US, but would happily ship your way if thats an option for you

that diagram is wired with discharge, which limits your option. Its generally considered better to bypass for charge only (ESC and Charge run parallel) then you can get a 10 Amp BMS, which is cheaper and smaller

what deck do you have in mind?

I would also recommend a smaller motor. You won’t be saturating a 6384 with that ESC and battery combo anyway, so you could save some money by knocking it down to a 6354. Depending on your deck and truck choice this could be a really good thing as when you move to a dual motor setup both motors will actually fit on the truck.*

*unless you like the metroboard style of one massive motor on each truck

@Scepterr @Agressivstreetlamp Ok, If I understand well :

  • Keep the BMS only for recharging because the samsung 30q are good enough to need the BMS only during charging? So I’ll take a BMS with a max charge load of 10A (I’ve planed to buy this charger : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32983504779.html)
  • What about the security? If I bypass the BMS during the discharge I will not have the feature over-discharge, over-current, short-circuit protection, etc. no ? The over-discharge is handle by the VESC I thing but for other ?
  • Can you help me by taking my diagram and modify it with the bypass? I’m afraid of being wrong.
  • For the deck it’s special. I’m going to keep it secret for a little while while I receive the parts to take a photo

@marsrover But the specs say “Current: Continuous 60A, Instantaneous current 150A.” I thought I couldn’t go higher than 60A. It is for this reason that I want to make a 12s4p. But if I can have more I’m interested. What do you suggest as a format battery? I have a lot of room on my special deck.

@Agressivstreetlamp thx but the motor is already ordered.

VESC does all the discharge regulation you’ll need.
It’s not strictly wrong to have a discharge bms, just a bit unnecessary.

For the wiring diagram Theresa lots out there, but I’ll check for some once i get working

variations for different BMS exist.

Ok thank you! Do you recommend some BMS brand on Aliexpress ? I see that mine don’t have the CH- charging. Only the P- and the B-.

well tbh I dont think I can recommend any specific BMS. Not enough info my part.
Little bit of research will get you there though.

I used one of amazon, mostly do to physical dimensions.
I do recommend you me sure it also balances

Np, and I forgot that Scepterr already gave me the solution with my BMS : to bypass that, run b- and b+ to the vesc. the BMS still needs the b- connected for charging, just don’t run anything from BMS to ESC.

I’ve one question about the XT90 connector. An anti-spark male connector need also an anti-spark female connector ? The FSESC 6.6 female XT90 connector seem to be a normal XT90 female. I do not know if the protection is only on one side of the connector (in this case, in the male).

Second question about the FSESC 6.6 from Flipsky. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000070886534.html

It says that there is already an anti-spark. Is it also for the battery or is it for something else? Is it useless to put an anti spark on the battery connector in this case ?
