Finally finished building my first DIY board!

I decided to make a DIY build after riding around on my Zealot and wanting to have the ability for more range, power, and off roading capabilities. I spent around the entire semester waiting on shipping, testing things out and finding parts that work, but it’s finished now finally.

Specs:

MBS comp 95 mountainboard deck
Matrix 3 420m trucks
MBS 8 in tires
12s6p battery
Spintend UBOX V2 100V ESC
dual fs 6384 190kv motors
16-78 ratio w/ 475 mm belts

Went through a lot of revisions with the ESC enclosure since I wanted to design one instead of getting a pelican type case and just cutting a hole in it. Ended up putting it on a mounting plate to add some skate bushings in between the bottom plate of the enclosure and the deck. Might end up swapping the 3d printed top and bottom for the enclosure to be CNC aluminum for better heat dissipation and rigidity.

Nicely done. How’d the setup with the ESC go? What kind of amps are you looking to set?

Was that an xt60 to xt90 adapter and the xt60 sparked?

Nice work! this build looks like a lot of fun.

How does it ride?

It rides so much smoother than my street board I had before. bumps and cracks are nothing and off roading is so fun. It feels so wrong riding a skateboard on grass or like dirt and not sliding out imo but the bindings and power make it feel so easy to control.

I was planning to use a dv4s vesc from Makerx at first, but due to not wanting to use xt60 for the connector for my battery and instead use xt90 for the antispark, I soldered an adapter instead of just cutting off the esc xt60 and replacing it, and bad soldering on the adapter I made shorted it. Thankfully the motors or anything else didnt get ruined so I just ended up swapping to the spintend a friend was selling that came with all the accessories I could need. On the board I have it set to draw around 95a max since that’s what the motors can take, but I set the battery ouput a bit lower at 80 just so that I dont have any issues with current for now.
