Experiences with Aera RF-1, Sabre Forged & Skoa Vapor

I finde the Skoa Vapor and Sabre Forged trucks look very interesting.

Does somebody have some experiences with them and could them compare with Aera RF-1. I’m interested in DH/FR abilities and slide behavior.

I’ve only ridden the Aera trucks, No experience with the other two.
Great trucks tho for building a solid downhill board.

I like Aera trucks especially coz they are priced reasonable.
But I don’t like their service. They didn’t respond to multiple requests.

But I know almost nothing about Skoa and nothing at all about Sabre. Just that they are looking great. Besides Skoa is quite pricey.

I know Powell Peralta’s Downhill team use Area trucks a lot. Anything Kevin Reimer signs off on I’m a fan off (hence my user pic)

Yes. Love these trucks. Very nice.

Don’t Trips might be worth a look? A few adj baseplates available as well. I’ve been really happy with my pump trucks from them.

They definitely aren’t as pretty as some of these though.

Why do you think that?

It depends…

Sk8er budget fluctuates between $40 to $300 bucks to get almost 95% of their gadgetry in order to hit the streets. Despite these facts all those hi-end $350 + trucks up there are originally made for them, not us.

Esk8er budget fluctuates between $300 to $3700 bucks to get almost 95% of our gadgetry in order to hit the streets. Despite these facts all those $350+ trucks were not made for us, but originally for them.

…so, the reality is, that low budget Sk8ers get dedicated high priced $350+ precision trucks made specifically for them, while high budget Esk8ers get dedicated middle priced $170 precision trucks made specifically for us!

How come is possible that ‘poor’ Sk8ers get top-top of the line precision trucking while ‘rich’ Esk8ers get middle-middle range precision trucking and we still say those Sk8 trucks are expensive (??)

I think that is not logical that we, Esk8ers, should complain about the high end price of luxury trucking available to the oldest and widest segment of the hobby, Sk8 (that we could also use), when that trucking hardware price pales in comparison to the prices we pay for the rest of the gadgetry we use in our young and growing hobby, Esk8.

I just think a truck shouldn’t cost more than 100$ if you consider that the production costs are about 20-40$. ESK8 in generell is way too expensive for what you get (hardware not fun) due to the low demand. A high end ESK8 costs as much as a motorcycle. Considering the low tech it’s used in ESK8 it should be much cheaper. But it will be in the next years. The Chinese already started do produce reliable boards under 500$. So when you compare the bang for buck 1 ESK8 vs. 1 pair of trucks it’s quite obvious. But I also really understand where the high prices came from and that for some people, mostly enthusiasts like us, it’s totally ok to pay those amounts, to get satisfied.

Such beauties I would never buy! Maybe if I was like Elon Musk rich or something. Is there like an ESK8r here with like the most expensive EVERYTHING? I wonder what sort of board would that look like. Give or take a budget of $15k - what would you build me?

Riptide hardware for your trucks end up costing close to $40 :joy:

Not sure how you could produce a quality precision truck with ace customer service and have enough profit to continue making and improving the trucks for $100

Ask Exway, Evolve, Boardnamicis, TB, Haggy…

They all offer forged/precision trucks for under 100$

Okay :joy:
