I have a DIY build with
Arbor deck
12s4p
Focbox
6355s
Evolve trucks.
I just cant get used to the trucks, squirly as shit. I took the middle kingpin out and am running the evolve trucks single king pin and it’s much better but no where near my TB218 trucks even with venom bushings I just cant seem to like this set up.
Thinking about changing to TB trucks this build I have plenty of extra mounts and may sell my evolve trucks + unik motor mounts.
What do you guys think of evolve trucks is there a way to make them feel more stable?
Harder bushings, replace the pivot cup with @RipTideSports, replace the baseplate with a independent truck baseplate. It should preform way better and feel more stable
I gotta say evolve didn’t make the best board but I do like their trucks… I use evolve trucks on most of my builds but I do take the second arm off for more stability at high speeds… I haven’t had any issues so far & I’m loving them… I also love that there’s plenty of gear sizes readily available either on Evolve’s site or from board bumpers… but as I grow older I’m moving away from speeding on these machines lol & i do plan on doing a build with evolve (no mod) DKP so I can just Cruise & carve
The best experience I had with the supercarve trucks after trying every bushing combo was selling them on the forum They are crap trucks, made with crap metal that warps and give a crap ride no matter how good every other component may be… I like riding at speeds between 20-35mph for reference
I tried a evolve a couple weeks ago (I’m a smart person and was given the remote in eco mode so I bumped it up to GT mode…) The trucks were super squirrelly… Just on the verge of being not rideable in my opinion…
Totally agree with your comment.
I don’t want them even for free, but every rider got his own preference. So the only option is to try out and see for yourself.
I replaced the Evolve bushings with hard insert Bones. I crank them down pretty good. Starting at 20 in-lbs on the front away from the board and upping 10 in-lbs per bushing set to 50 in-lbs on the rear near the board. I conveniently get 1 to 4 threads showing on the four bolts that way so it makes for a good quick visual check.
I don’t know if you are on AT wheels. I replaced the Evolve stock AT wheels with Trampa Urban Treadz. You can’t set the right wheel size/gear ratio with the Trampa’s so the speed and distance are off on the remote. I use a bicycle app on my phone to track my rides anyway. The tire swap made a big difference in how tight the board feels.
Edit: I forgot. Your build so you can ignore the speed/distance stuff.
I wouldn’t swap my evolve trucks for anything else, I have a +7 -5 with ice breaker pivot cups. Here’s my setup
Back truck:
Board side Pivot: Board side 95A, Road side 93A
Road side Pivot: Board side 90A, Road side 90A
Front truck:
Board side pivot: Board side 93A, Road side 90A
Road side pivot: Board side 90A, road side 87A
But I have been riding double kingpin trucks all my life. I can take those trucks up to 40mph without an issue, so far I have taken them up to 42mph with no wobbles and I feel very stable. But I can still carve effortlessly, well the board was made for carving but it just happened to go fast aswell.
Also I do not crank down my kingpins, on the back truck you can see 2 threads on the board side, and maybe half a thread on the road side. On the front trucks you can see 1 thread on the board side and no threads on the road side
Been riding my board more and more I’ve gotten pretty used to the evolve trucks and gotten up to 30+mph with out staining my pants but those un even roads still scare me a bit.
On another note now that I got used to my 12s8p I have severe range anxiety with my old 12s4p Haha oh man funny considering I started with a 10s3p 25r I spoiled my self.

It’s a good board and I’m glad I have it as a back up. It was soposed to be my girlfriend’s board but she barely rides now.
