ESK8CON 2025! - Unofficial Hype Thread

I’ve read divide max watts by 745 as an estimate for HP. So… like 33.5kWs.

Thing is running 360v nominal?! So like a 100s4p?

It is 80hp according to their website Stark Varg MX - The fastest electric motocross bike in the world

Just wasn’t my year this year… but I was due for technical issues. My last race on RC esc’s I’d say ever. I’m going Vesc like Jack. I had lurches / cutouts from the start of the finals and though the race till I crashed from it.

Just seeing that fall, glad it seems you’re alright. Any idea what may have caused your cutout? Curious what firmware version the mt12 you had was using?

Yes he mentioned he had 80hp, just said he turned it down to 45 so it’s more manageable.

thank you Fess, was awesome that they actually allowed us to drag race this year.

i’d say we at least hit 35-40 by the line

13k is crazy… more hp than a 450cc dirt bike is pretty cool tho.

I am running all the correct firmware for the MT12 and receivers as per @fessyfoo ’s documentation.

It seems like a bad connection on one of the motor phase wires could be it.

Either way I’m headed to Vesc with the 70125’s - at least going to try it. The builds I rode after finals were just WAY impressive

Sounds crazy, would love to know what happened aswell. I had issues with wires during weekend so had to make sure they were tight in before each race. But you would see that after the race if that was the case right?

I used to hae issues with phase bullets getting sloppy and falling out.
turns out even though I thought I had enough slack in my phase wires and I would respring the bullets outward. I had enough wiggling going on that they woudl loosen up over time. i had a habit of checking them all the time.

when I finally added more slack. my bullets have remained solid for a very long time. so much i’ve lost my habit of checking them. thanks for the reminder.

the rc escs are bullets on pcb. vs our vesc setups are usually bullets inline. no wiggle.

Yeah, I basically check before each ride. Whenever I forget is usually the time when they fall off  Especially when riding over some hard cracks or something before.

Watching the videos and just wanted to say the startline this year was awesome. Just enough space for everyone to get through and still great first turn.

The only thing I would improve for next year is to have one predictable style of start procedure in all races and not randomly change it for each one

And personally not a fan of just the light without sound  If anything it could be at least counting down. The sudden change in bright light is hard. (sure I am looking for an excuse to my start but anyway :-D)

Video from the Pro Finals

Had an absolute blast this year, really looking forward to racing in the electrify series with the lessons I learned from esk8con.

Yeah it was supposed to be the lights all weekend but apparently they went down or something. would’ve preferred to have the same style for each race. Did get caught off guard once or twice with the airhorn as Joe wasn’t even fully off the track lol.

Joe was doing street race starts :joy: felt like I was in a race covered by 1320video all weekend

Kinda a downer here compared to everything else but anyone else with Racebox or Draggy data able to verify their Qualifying times? It makes no difference for me as I never ended up racing, but could expose a flaw in the RIFD-based timing system (which I imagine they will keep using?).

I was just having a look through all my Racebox data and my fastest lap in qualifying was actually a 46.67 compared to the 48.24 recorded on esk8con’s system. +/- 1.5 seconds doesn’t seem like much, but with how tight the Pro class was, that’s a good chunk.

I’ve got both my gopro footage from quali and the racechrono overlay to verify.

I had I believe an almost 2 second difference between my RFID and RaceBox micro times.
RaceBox being the slower lap.

One theory I have is that the start/stop position isn’t exactly the same between the two systems. So maybe letting off throttle after the finish line could be causing a slower RaceBox time if the RaceBox finish line was set slightly after the physical finish line.

I dunno exactly what caused it, but I do know a few of us also had those differences. Since everyone was running on the same RFID system I’m thinking it’s pretty fair and I would think would be more accurate than GPS.
