ESK8 Racing needs our help to grow

It won’t take that long or be that hard to get redbull involved. They are incredibly open to new experiences as long as it doesn’t cost them money and there’s a decent media return. I’ve had a few meetings at redbull HQ in London about past projects and they were just very casual about it all.

You’re basically on the same wavelength as what I said above. Make it fun, inclusive, make the people safe and the boards fast and loose.

Then get spectators on board. After that you’re cruising.

Yeah, I think the point would be to make it as good as they would and then sell it to them. Or call them right way. Minimal groundwork needed in the latter. More in the former, none of which I have time for at the moment. Maybe in a few months. But good to know you already have an in and we have a contact there

I like what @arch is talking about. It sounds like the cams they used for Formula 1 Drive to Survive (Great Show). One in the back, one as a FPV cam, and one in the front low to the ground. Qualifying time decides where you are placed (like formula 1). Red Bull throws money at formula 1 because it’s a huge event. If we were to start getting crowds to watch, Red Bull would most likely sponsor races etc… Different classes with 10s and 12s. Fastest rider/winner for that race gets some prize.

I think I watched to much Formula 1 Drive to Survive today…

Would something like this, in the event it becomes possible, be in the same principle as the Olympics? Everyone gets a chance to host the event. Something like this would be great for the f1 track here and it would finally give us the proper media coverage via government:)

Bringing a “worldwide & futuristic & highly attractive esk8 racing organisation” into life needs great vision, imagination and innovation… It will not be achieved unless the big fellas spend some time on the innovative small brands…

Gotta get someone like tishawn to record us, his videos are insanely good and fun to watch.

He can make anything look amazingly epic.

Making a video for Instagram and covering a race are entirely different.
We need people experienced in the latter.

Another idea that was discussed in the house of Esk8 in Denver was to propose an Esk8 race by joining that event to an existing events, be it a DH skateboard event or otherwise. I believe that is what Brad and the Uphill Federation is doing. Great way to approach it as well. The crowd is already there and captive. Just needs to be fun and safe to watch - 30 sec laps, safety barriers, fun little track with one straightaway, etc.

Point of fact, I believe the SF Cannonball is the first open course slalom Esk8 event, a lot of folks will most likely be on EUCs and I am actually pretty sure an EUC rider will probably have best finish time for the Pathfinder, but that aside SF will be a bit of a test case for the sort of long range LeMans style circuit race that some are envisioning, there’s also a velodrome in Coyote Creek CA that I have been eyeing for events, will keep you a posted.

Hope these get good coverage, would be fun to follow from afar.

We need racing drone pilots as chase cameras. And eventually if number of racers is small enough, a camera packed on everyone’s rig (just a sticky mount would do, let say you bring 10 cameras and multi battery packs, you can use the same cameras for each race. With Wi-Fi you can stream direct too, just need a proper emitter / receiver.

This will bring epic footage for sure.

Edit : And fun tracks. With dirty but fair tricks (like jump shortcuts for the brave, with smooth foam underneath if they miss their jumps, so they don’t get hurt but also get slowed down compared to people who take the regular path ; kinda a double edged sword).

There is room for creativity in this sport.

They are a marketing company though Brad, if people want to jump off mountains for the camera that’s on themselves.

If you’re taking part in extreme sports there is an element of risk, the rewards for events and individuals are also substantial. People die, it happens. It sucks and I’m not prepared to risk my own life for this stuff but I’m sure others are :man_shrugging:t3:

Oddly enough I think this sport is one of the rare able to scale many vehicles a la Dakar or Motorsport game, all in the same races. Like you have either technical category racing for the purist and next, brawl all in for the brave.

This thing has potential.

Edit : btw I didn’t see @arch posts before, dude we got same ideas I support you

Edit 2 : Actually there’s even more to it. What devices are characteristics to the most popular sports over the world? Balls and wheels. We need skating rugby or similar.

I just had a dialog with Red Bull in Denmark about involvement in an uphill and downhill event. No interest what so ever. Just a blank no

Did you tell them esk8 gives you wings?

Super lame answer from them

To be fair they replied very politely, and wished us good luck. But there was no opening.

Not sure if its been said or not but some nice point to point endurance races would be fun. Im trying to convince my city council and the county to let me put one on here in the desert. We have lots of different terrains out here so it should be fun. I believe EVSports will be the next generation of extreme sports. From Surfboards to EBlades. Its going to be hard not to stop the flow and it would be nice to direct the traffic if we can. This community alone has grown to almost 1000 members in such a short time. Maybe we need an ESk8 Racers forum just to dial it in and get more focused. EVRL(ELECTRIC VEHICLE RACING LEAGUE)

Has anybody mentioned or said something about the legal requirements on a worldwide “non-street-legal” vehicle racing ? What should be done ?
