This was me almost a year ago. I remember looking at their site photos, and price tag and thinking why would i pay all this money for a board i dont even like the look of. Although the picture they had on the landing page was a horrible undershot view of the bulky enclosure. I wasn’t a fan of the deck design either at this time.
Over the next few months of getting my first esk8s i was a fan of the sleekness of the carbon fiber decks
Now 8 months later and having owned 2 lacroix i catch myself staring at the board. In love with everything about it. I think the deck design choice on the previous board with the red and blue was loud and abstract. You either love it or hate it, which is exactly what happened to me; I dont even remember how the board started to appeal to me…it just did.
All the things i looked at as cons before are now pros. Great design choices all around. Love the look of the beefy enclosure next to the sleek wooden deck. Like a snowboard on wheels
Yea man, lots of great places to ride up near Chicago. I skip the city for the most part since I like the more relaxed area around the burbs. Fox river trail is excellent and has more connected miles of riding than you can accomplish in a visit. It starts in Oswego and passes through many towns along the river. If you ever end up there, I’d start in Aurora and go north since the pavement is nicer that way. Lots of nice nature to see on that trail.
I’d also visit downtown Naperville if you ever come through. Lots of cool things to do in a chill downtown area. It’s expensive though, the whole area is pretty swanky. Some of my favorite rides were getting up at dawn and taking a ride through all the super expensive neighborhoods that are linked around here. You can go for miles and miles. Those bastards have the best pavement, some of the nicest streets I’ve skated with really cool topography. The Dupage river trail also starts in downtown Naperville and that one is fun too. It’s a bit shorter, but good for a full session and ends at a big lake park with a couple islands.
All that said, all my boards are in storage in Ohio. I’m moving back to Cincinnati this spring. Looks like you’ll be giving the tour lol. (I’ve spent only a couple hours on the Miami bike trail).
Same. I remove them way too often to loctite them. Also its not that tragic if one of them happens to fall out. And all of them a preloaded by the gasket, although that doesn’t make much of a difference I think.
And that being said, I never had even one fall out.
if its a number in a bubble, that means that’s how many new messages there are.
If its just a number, those are the amount of messages in the thread overall.
if the title is bold, but the number isn’t in a bubble, there are new messages but you haven’t visited the thread much so it doesn’t show you a bubble.
Bubble-Number = new messages since you last visited the thread
Number = Messsages in the thread you’ve never been into before or if you’ve read all messages in this thread
Color = hot topic
Yesterday I was low on zip ties, so I did my bandages with drywall tape.
Honestly, despite this being a temporary test setup, I don’t think it’s very risky at all. I never lose more than 2-3 of the 16 per ride, and I just keep a pack in my pocket just in case. Worst part is I haven’t bothered waterproofing, but these wheels are extremely dangerous on wet streets anyways.
“self adhesive bandage wrap” is the best thing ever for holding stuff on. Stretchy, relatively comfortable, and only sticks to itself instead of your skin.
I ran outta the good medical tape and said fuck it I’m almost healed anyways. Just keeping 2 cotton pads on my knee still, cuz it likes to rip open when I bend it.
