Erratic behaviour from trampa bluetooth dongle

My board has sat unused for a good few years. I’m busy trying to get it going again. I was on version 4 firmware with my dual Vesc 6 (1 normal and one plus). When I connected my new battery up, everything was working ok. I could connect to the Vesc via the dongle from my phone without any issue. Then I decided to upgrade the firmware to 6.5. I did that via my phone, reran the motor config, connected the wand and went for a ride. I got a few blocks then I lost connection. I had to turn my board off and on again to get it working, and then it only worked for a few seconds and then cut out again. Back up at home I opened the enclosure up and went through the whole process of updating again, this time via my computer and also updated the dongle. My new magneto wand has just arrived and I managed to get that paired as well as my old one. I closed the board up and went to try a ride but the same thing happened. Within 5 meters the dongle died.

I opened it up again this evening and it connected again for a while. Then it stopped and gave me the “cannot read the firmware from the Vesc. Check the port, etc” I disconnected the one Vesc from the other to see if the canbus connection might be the issue. Not that. I replaced the wires between the 2 connectors of the dongle as one of them looked like it might be frayed. That didn’t help. I

I bought the dongle back in 2019. Is it perhaps not compatible with the new firmware? Or might it simply have given up the ghost?

Turns out it was an issue with either of the rx and tx wires. I replaced those and all is good in skateland again.
