ENNOID XLITE & VESC

I’m really glad to hear that.

I wonder if the VESC project will move in a way that accomodates a wider base of ICs in general, since this chip shortage is unprecendented and maybe unlikely to go away any time soon.

I have no idea how much time this would take to implement changes to accomodate other IC, but sure it would take a lot. Concernimg, the STM32 for EBMS, there is a migration tool for F3 to → G4 that would make it easier to upgrade the MCU while keeping pin compatibility with actual design. 170Mhz instead of 72MHz… The issue is that STM32G4 are also BO… I don’t know if there is something similar for VESC for moving away from the F405.

I guess it is simply easier to wait until they get back in stock.

This looks as a perfect FlexiBMS alternative. I like the XT30 connectors a whole lot better than the screw terminals. Also the footprint is a significant improvement. :+1:

Won’t the left-hand side JST connector be in the way of a bolt head?

It is tight, but M3 fits there.

I could do a smaller 12S version later, but will start with the 24S for now

if a smaller 12s version comes out, change my order from 2 orders to 4 orders  :tipping_hand_man:

Same, if a smaller 12s board version happens, I’ll need like, well, more.

Will do eventually.

A 12S - 60V with low current design is quite easy now that I went the hard way working above 100V at 100A+… hardware is easier than software. I’d say the ratio is probably 20% for hardware & 80% for software

Not as small as the flexibms with 35 x 78mm for 12S board, but I’m getting lazy. Just trimmed the extra balancing IC & related stuff from the tested 24S version. Lots of unused space, but it will work just fine for now. No firmware changes needed for making this thing working.

Looks awesome! Me personally I’d pay more to get it in a smaller form factor. It appears most peoples desire is the smallest form factor as possible.

Regardless, whatever you do decide i’m sure it’ll be a masterpiece and I’m hoping to secure at least 2 in an order.

Either way it’s still much smaller than the LLT ones we use all the time

Never used LLT  , was lucky enough to secure a few Flexi’s before they sold out. Me personally for my needs, I’d like to have one similar size as the Flexi or smaller. But again everyones needs are different.

Dang lucky haha I never got a flexi

Sheeeshhh, Yea thats a bit too big for me. Deff appeared upon my research for BMS’s. After seeing what happened with the sell out of Flexi, Im tempted to just buy 10 Enoids just FFS if/whenever these come out.

I could bring it to a size similar to the flexibms eventually, but some parts for low voltage application are not available right now due to the part shortage. BQ76200 for instance. So I have to use others parts which are less integrated & use an additional bat+ to 12V power rail instead of a single bat+ to 3.3V. For the 24S that made sense, but not for the 12S. Better having something not optimal than nothing. I’m also using XT30 connectors instead of soldering pads which makes the board wider a bit

Agreed, Super excited for this project to be completed! Also, if funding is an issue, i’d like to help! (I’m just super excited to see a new BMS in the works :grimacing: )

looks great man! can’t wait to get full integration with VESC and than era of full bms is done  As soon as they get done with it will order your 24s capable Xlite (16s battery)

any idea when those will be up on website for order?

Beautiful work. :+1:

Has anyone received one yet? Would love to use one of these, not even for the smart features, just since its small

I havent shipped any of those “XLITE” yet. I think this will happen within a few weeks. The 24 cell capable version has been tested this week & seems to works fine (charging, balancing, hardware &, peripheral), but some work is still needed on the firmware side for proper VESC BMS CAN bus integration. I’ll eventually get it right with VESC CAN. Just too many projects ongoing, so I’m going forward slowly at this point

I updated my SS-LITE to 1.4 to try out the vesc bms integration but it doesn’t seem to work 100%

Do I need to change some settings? Or could it be because I’m running beta 5.3 firmware on the vesc?
(vesc beta 5.3 is necessary because this is in a diy onewheel)
