Hi all,
Back to my esk8 project after a looong break (~10 years). I have two 230KV motors that I plan to hook to two 10S 4Ah nanotech batteries.
With the help of the esk8 calculator, I computed that I’d be reaching ERPM that are close to the edge on older VESC hardware : 59K max and 53K loaded.
I have two original enertion focbox. I remember there were some heated discussions on the max ERPM supported by these ESC (that are not VESC6). Do you think there is hope for this setup (with ERPM and current limits in the config) or shall I plan for a change of ESC or lower KV motors ?
What’s your requirement and why do think you will be reaching 60k ERPM frequently (guessing near 95% Duty cycle ) ? Send the print of the calculations.
I am asking because you can always tune your gears and make it confortable below 95% duty cycle mark.
If you really need to tune up, there’s a feature called “Field Weakening” where you can boost a bit further the duty cycle of your ESC. I never tested on my old FocBoxes and some might say this can fry your ESC. Hopefully someone with experience on FocBoxes can comment here…when i used in the old days the firmwares did not had this yet.
Thank you for your input.
I don’t think I’ll reach it frequently. Top speed with my configuration is set to 45kmh. I doubt that I will reach it often !
The calculations are from this website :
Actually, it’s gonna be even a bit worse than that when the batteries are full (calculations are done with 3.7V per cells).
