Dynamic Load testing of Cells in an Esk8

Nelvick @DIY500AMP.COM has a pretty sweet set up for Testing cells, and just recently has uploaded data logs from a FPV flight with dynamic loads as high as 90 amps.

It is data from a FPV drone with what I think is a 6s1P battery, maybe Tenpower 50Xg cells.

Here is the data regarding how the 3 preproduction Sample cells he has applied these dynamic loads to performed.

I find it interesting how the Tenpower 60XG sags the least, but then recovers a bit slower than the Reliance RS60 or the Trydan Tech T6000 ( A newish Indian based battery company)

I know some of you guys have ride logs/ telemetry data, and are really pulling some serious power.

He wants the Data and wants to test not only these Future power/hybrid cells, but existing cells as well, and not just a 97 second FPV drone flights.

He is just getting started with Dynamic load testing and has a passion for this stuff.

I asked him how much Airflow a FPV drone has around the battery, and it seems there is a good amount.

So Data from a powerful esk8 pushing a compact insulated enclosed battery hard, would yield an interesting comparison, and perhaps help us all choose the best cells for our specific needs going forward, and perhaps help explain why @Pecos and @MichaelWA P45b packs woefully underperformed, range wise.

I don’t know jack about setting Megan&minnie/ Davega or other such devices, but I do know there is a plethora of members here who have ride logs and access to the data he seeks and would nerd out on this type of thing.

P45b underpeforming was unexpected, we didn’t know it was that bad. @Pecos ride pretty conservative and his range was pretty far off from his calculations, and he was being plenty generous with it already. For me it was pretty bad. :joy:

Anybody hammering a 1p or a 2p pack and have a ride log?

So at 20A continuous with P45b you’re down to about 4.1ah usuable capacity. Real world pack shown to be quite a bit lower than that. We got the math down to like 3.7-3.8ah usuable capacity.

Yes, I’m looking for an aggressive ride log from an ESK8 race or any other abusive testing where the batteries were pushed to the point of smoking. The idea is to recreate the race in my lab and test different cells under the same conditions.

I’m doing the same with FPV and EDF jets. I can even increase the current levels by any ratio compared to the original test. The goal is to find the limits of each cell and see how they behave under dynamic conditions, not just under constant-current loads.

Some cells recover much faster than others after high-current events, and that difference is important to understand.

I really appreciate any help or ride logs you guys can share. Thanks!

Maybe try hitting up Bence, Tucker, Poast, etc. Those guys either race or ride hard all the time.
