Doing my research on boards and trucks for first DIY build

I currently have an OMW Calvary, DKP, 7 inch AT, added a bike light to the front regular maintenance and such. Ive got some buddies that build board and one of them has a ton of experience hes basically been or mentor.

Anyways im planning a channel truck build. My biggest hurdle is when we go for group rides and Im the only one on DKP I just cant hang, I start to twitchy and such anything over 20mph especiallywith any less than perfect roads. My issue is I absolutely love the Kaly boards, their truck and bushing setup is amazing and the flex deck is great I had a blast. but as we all know they are no more. So what the alternative or closest to that for today. I see alot of talk about hyper trucks, I was thinking about trampa decks but maybe theirs something I haven’t heard. Whats yall experience with channel boards

Also to clarify, i am not a racer by any means. Its me and a bunch of coworkers and we all have boards and one is on a monster truck of a scooter that we salvaged out of a dumpster:sweat_smile:. Mostly just chill and ride after work on fridays.

If you’re 100% set on channels take a look at duality trucks by Titosystems or the matrix 3’s with riptide bushing change to the singularity.

If you’re open to other options I’d seriously take a look at the Stooge Raceboards CST trucks. They’re super adjustable and you can dial in your truck angle for more or less steer very very quickly.

If you want a modification instead of a whole build, consider switching the back to RKP and leaving the DKP up front. To me, it feels a ton more stable at speed in that configuration. It looks funny, but who cares.

The duality trucks look awesome, and I have been snooping around the forum reading about them. Ive been meeting more and more esk8 riders in the wild over in DFW and im hoping to meet someone with the duality trucks before I buy them. But who knows I might just send it.

Ill take a look into the stooge racing stuff. Funny you mention them, went on a 25 mile cruise today with a group and today was the first time I ever heard about them.

2nd, 3rd and 4th for the Duality trucks. They are amazing especially on a MTB platform. Very turny and stable, and they work without any tuning out of the box. The Stooge trucks are supposedly good but the amount of stuff I have to do for them is kind of daunting for a beginner.

100% go for duality. They are the best trucks on the market.

Compared to DKP whats the rebound like. Also im guessing Road bumps and small pot holes and such at over 25mph arent an issue?

Agreed on original 3links. These new CST trucks are very easy to adjust. One bolt you loosen to adjust the truck angle, talking 30 seconds. I like them so much that Im going to probably replace my duality’s (which I really like) with CST trucks.

That does seem pretty slick, I just watched the video on their website. They seem intimidating but I think his video explained it pretty well. My current stance is that I dont think id hate either of the trucks if I picked one over the other

I live my dualities. Would also love to see some of these sweet new stooges out there

They’re both very fun!

Depends on your bushing setup, current stock bushing setup is somewhere in the middle.

Depends on your skill, for most of us they feel pretty stable.

This is very true, Ive mostly been practicing at my apartment which for the most part has pretty smooth concrete. I did find a new lot ill be trying out. Ill go ahead and set up the T track and getting better at bending my knees and shifting my feet and weight

Alot of my wanting to build a board is just the need in me. I love the challenge in creating things

I was just measuring everything and seeing what i need to put Duality trucks on the OMW cavalry. The OMW uses an “old school” mounting pattern, which is 2.5 inches. Since you have duality trucks, what is the length between the front and rear mounting bolts for one of the trucks? To be more specific im talking about mounting the truck to the deck.

That’s what I was thinking. All you need to do is replace the baseplate on the rear truck. Upgrading to Riptide bushings makes a difference. I personally like APS bushings.

Another option are the MAD Links. They maintaim a wheelbase similar to the OMW DKP and TKP trucks. Waaay more stable at speed and carve just as tight.
