I’ve been getting used to my new board with 3 links for a bit, after being on dkp for almost 2000 miles. I have a few hundred on the new board, but I can’t seem to go faster than 40 without it feeling incredibly sketchy to do so. It feels like one twitch of the ankle will send me to my doom. I knew going from dkp to 3 links would have a learning curve to it, but I can’t seem to push over this 40mph ceiling. I weigh 130lbs without any gear, and about 160 with everything on (heavy ass tools and charger etc). I’ve got 87a krank in the front, with the rods in their loosest position, and 90a krank in the rear in the middle position, both front and back bushing nuts 1 full turn from hand tight. Am I doing anything wrong or do I just need a lot more time riding on these trucks? Full build is here, any and all tips appreciated

Try rear in least steer and front in mid steering position. See if that gives you the stability you’re looking for, if you need more carve/turn you can try and leave front in max carve position maybe moving rear to less steer is all it takes. You may like APS bushings over krank I seemed to go faster when I made the swap.
To answer your question if you’re doing anything wrong, absolutely not but these 3-link trucks take time to tune to your liking. What’s your board geared to speed wise?
I had that same position before (front mid and rear least) though the board would barely steer. I did try moving the points the rods screw into on the trucks a bit farther from the middle and made the rear dead with the front in the most steerable position and it did feel better for stability, but it does take a lot of my turn radius away. The board is geared to hit mid 60s but that’s just because I weigh 130lbs so even with that gearing I can’t even manage full throttle in mode 2 of 3 on my puck.
For me it’s extremely hard to balance high speed (50’s mph) stability (stiff) with maneuverability. I could have both up to 45 but above I got to keep it pretty stiff. You might like 85A or 90A APS up front maybe it gives you a little more maneuverability while keeping that rear locked down?
You may need to get some Dualitys to get a little bit more of the Lean you used to get with DKP.
With DKP the board leans a ton.
I think you loose a lot of that with 3 links .
Dualitys I think are somewhere in between as far as board lean.
- Rear in boardside holes, front in road side holes.
- back off bushings and check for binding. Improper rod mount spacing and rod length can make the radius rod ends bind or make contact with basplate mounting bolts, limiting the tilt angle.
You can lengthen or shorten the radius rods to square the hanger and make clearance. With the bushings loose you should be able to reach max lean limit of the carrier spherical bearing. - check for hardware play. Loose hardware will effect steering performance.

I’ve been using my 3-link like this for a while now, and I want more stability. I’m going to put the boardside in the center hole on the front panel.
