Right now I can’t think of any. It’s never been a priority for component makers. With some analysis, I am pretty confident parts can be made lighter while maintaining strength and durability.
As for decks, carbon fiber is lighter. With different grades of carbon fiber used in an optimized layout, decks can likely be quite a bit lighter.
If you want to see optimized and lightweight parts, look to the cycling industry. Carbon fiber frames weight around 600g. Wheelsets around 1000-1200g. It’s pretty insane how much weight can be reduced when it becomes a priority.
This is true, with the caveat of price to match. I was surprised by the relatively low prices of E-skate parts compared to bicycle components. Yes, e-skating is still a money sink, and we wish things were cheaper. But compared to the heavily R&D’d carbon fiber or titanium components in the bike world, they are affordable.
Cycling weight weenies drive me nuts. 99.9% of people are probably better off with a $1,200 20 lbs bike than a $12,000 14 lbs bike. I will say, I do love that you can get screaming deals on used stuff in the cycling realm, though. When I was really into cycling, they’d just switched from the top-of-the-line being 9-speed to 10-speed, and people were practically giving away 9-speed top-of-the-line stuff. I couldn’t care less about the one extra sprocket and the 20 grams or whatever.
Funny you mention those. Just the hangers from 3Ds are 84 € a pop. and i would only need the hangers because I can use the caliber base plates I already have. Only problem is 3ds has only one hanger in stock.Does anybody know if they are still in business/making new parts? Anybody know of another option for CNCed RKPs. Since Boardnamics is not making their hanger anymore and used ones are hard to find. Especialy in EU
