That’s not what a conflict of interest is though, do you mean it creates an awkward decision for the users? A conflict of interest would be allowing just one person to collate a list, if that person stood to benefit from people using their code over someone else’s.

People already have to choose who to support, it’s just resolved by chance (whoever’s video you came across randomly), or by incentivising creators or other code-owners to be omnipresent to the point that they’re the only name anyone thinks of (read: incentivising spam or rewarding those who can generate space filler quickly)
