dc dc converter for front lights on stormcore /lacroix hybeams

looking to do a 12s(maybe 18s) build with integrated lights. Does anyone have aliexpress link to a dc inverter with 2 input and 2 output wires? - is this one good to use?

I would be running lacroix hybeams on a stormcore 60d+.

lacroix says theyre lights run at 1am max on the highest setting at 12v. The lights have 4 light modes with the same button controlling the ON/OFF

are there any dangers to doing this?

Lacroix will sell you a sentinel for $100. I would consider that since you are already using a 60D+. The buck will automatically turn on when you power up the stormcore because it’s connected via a UART Cable. I’m using the sentinel with a nilight 6.5" bar light with both of the sentinel light channels wired in parallel.

I actually got a spare sentinel on hand, but no UART cable to connect it.

with the regular converter would i have to toggle it on/off so the lights can get power?

If you already have a sentinel just buy a UART cable. You can get a 5 pack for like $8 on amazon.

tempting. got a link? idk why i thought it was some custom cable

what plugs did you use to plug it into the sentinel board? i see the ones lacroix uses for their lights and i got no idea what they are

More expensive than I thought, but yeah it’s just an 8 pin jst-ph cable.

thanks, do you use the rest of the connectors? like the mr30 for BMS /charge port connections?

I wouldn’t bother with the charge port stuff on the sentinel. Just wire everything up with bms bypass as normal. The buck converter will still run fine. That’s how my 18s lacroix is currently setup and it the lights work like normal.

how did you secure ur sentinel inside the enclosure? any thermal pads on the backside?

I was thinking of making a 3d printed box to help secure it since i see there’s already screw holes in the sentinel

So you combined both individual sides on the sentinel as one input for your light bar, instead of using just 1 side to power it?

Yep that’s right. I was worried I would blow the fuses on one side if I didn’t wire them in parallel. Has been working well so far. I have a lacroix so I have the stock mounting system for the sentinel.
