Not sure if this is the right category, but I’ve worked with @sugandese and @Tasventouras to develop a time attack track. This uses a grid pattern that fits into a netball venue that my local Intro2Speed group use, and also fits most carparks that other groups also use. Tas has graciously mapped out the major cone points:
Maximum space required is 90x30m and the direction follows the arrow as a standard.
Some of the major clipping points are wider to allow group practice for passing but this is primarily designed to flow nicely for time attack and present a greater variety of corners than existing standards do. It’s also inspired by the Portuguese GP.
This was aimed at giving the Aussies some online battles between travelling for events as well as providing training. I will be creating a Facebook group with a leaderboard, and eventually a website with some other grid based tracks potentially! I would love to see some people try it out and set the competition for us all.
Update: the track has changed! I’ve realized some flaws in the layout and opted to remodel it to fix them. I also wanted to be more inclusive of lower top speed boards, so In pursuit of an ideal training layout this is how it’s looking…
He might, I don’t want to give him more than he already has to deal with though. Easy for us to have our own leaderboard here, and we can just add anyone who sets a time across the pond
You guys are killing it, good to see you just cracked 60. That’s 10kph faster than what I did for the pace time. I was hoping the track would limit the top end around that. @JeffyJ that tiny bit faster, can you hold onto it?
I’ve been testing modified layouts for some time now and settled on this one. Tried it last night at our intro2speed and had good feedback, as well as times between people becoming closer (as was the goal). This track shifts focus more to skill and removes the long straight line that allows the ‘pay to win’ scenarios.
Slight derail but here’s to me praying that esk8con will keep their shorter layout and not follow the hype off races like TEF1, AVS and Electrify (to a certain extent) where board stats matter a lot more comparatively.
If they have the capacity to make their own layout, it’s definitely better to have a track focused on cornering I think. I won’t be at esk8con but hopefully that is the focus and esk8 doesn’t turn into NASCAR
