I’m sure this might be considered sacrilege in the community, but I have decided i want to convert an eMTB into a go-kart/drift-kart. The only problem is i have no clue where to begin. Ultimately i’d like to use all components that are currently installed on my eMTB, even though it’s probably going to require a bit more work. I doubt there is simply a plug and play kit other than the one that has been floating around for a few months that basically just adds a steering wheel and seat to an existing eMTB. That kit also ads a whole steering linkage setup which makes the wheelbase a little wider, but according to one particular reviewer, the wheelbase with that kit is still not quite wide enough and it is susceptible to flipping with minimal effort. I think the biggest issues i’m going to have will be keeping the existing motors and gear drives. If a parts list will help, i’ll put something together, but if anyone can point me in a direct to just get started, that would be dope af.
If you know how to weld you could just weld your own frame. If you want it to be a drift kart you should probably take off the front shocks and figure out how to mount a smaller diameter wheel from there. For the real wheel setup it might be kinda hard putting kart slicks on a bike frame. You might be able to make your own rear swing arm or stretch the existing one out. For go kart kits check out battle aero, they make sick karts. If you check out Logan Taylor on yt he uses his kart a lot so you could use that as a review. Hope this helps!
I would like to figure out how to make a cheap go kart with a real frame, but the drive train of a mountain board.
