Considering trying out pneumatic wheels

Hi everyone… I’m really happy with my current board (only have 1 at the moment), but would like to try something that could handle some rougher terrain. With all the haggy sales going on right now, I’m wondering if my current specifications are best aligned with the additional drain that pneumatics will introduce.

For all you peeps out there that are on pneumatic wheels, do you think that my current gear can handle the conversion okay? OR… am I better off starting a second build that is better equipped for pneumatic wheels?

Here are my current specs:
Surf Rodz 200mm RKP Trucks with 50’/35’ split angle base plates
Akhlut axles with integrated mounts
TorqueBoard VESC with BLDC
TorqueBoard 6355 190KV Motors
10s4p Samsung 30Q 18650 cells
LLT Power Smart BMS w/ Bluetooth module
Dickyho 44T Wheel Pulley
Marcmt88 15t Motor Pulley
TB 110mm 74a wheels

And a pic just for fun:

Only think I can see is your range may be a bit lackluster with 4p. Not awful. Make sure there’s no wheelbite either before you buy. Not sure from that angle ut it looks like the tires might hit the deck a bit

What battery specs are most people using on pneumatics? Don’t need crazy range. 15-18 miles would be great.

Good call on the wheel bite. Didn’t consider that potential. Here are a few additional photos from different angles:

i get about 12.5 miles on average out of my 10s4p pack on 200mm wheels. 210 pounds with 10 pounds on my back. YMMV

I see that the new @moon liquid nitrogen motor coolers are working great for you :star_struck:

Switching from thane to pneumatics cut my range in half, my torque, geared for similar speed, was cut drastically also. 6355 leaves a lot to be desired. It might depend on your riding style, for cruising it might be okay.

If you want similar performance you want to double your battery (12s+ preferably) and motors (6374 or 6380 or 4wd 6350). Better ESCs or good heatsink

up to 7" no issues with wheel bite, youll need to level back up to 50degrees OR redrill and shift the base plate back. probably a 6p for your desired range and regearing for better efficiency.

on my 12s4p 6" i got 8-10mi with medium aggressive riding

Thanks for the honest feedback. Hearing this makes me think that I’d be better off leaving my current build on thanes, and plan something completely different for a future build on pneumatics.

That would be my advice. Its better to have something purpose built for pneumatic vs thane. You can try sticking some pneumatics on there to gauge what kind of parts you want for another build, the size of the battery for example
