yes, from delta to wye will give you 1.7x less Kv. The 2 direct drives I made are 75 and 85Kv sweet spot for everything up to 110mm diameter. I have 2 custom 55Kv motors here because I planed to do a direct drive for bigger wheels but switched to another project
Yeah so def gonna start by reterminate good those
My main issue of upgrading is I’m not sure th best way to make the motor cans and magnets as I’m not so sure about that stuff
So I think I will reterminate 150kv motors and they turn into 85kv (around) run them with 97mm wheels
Also gotta attach the can to the hanger better
yeh standard motors have neodymium magnets around but actually if you read more about it, you could improve outcomes really significantly with more fancy distributions. I just copied the original one the motors had and my second direct drive is 6384 motors and they push like hell.
Yeah but I don’t really get how to make the cans and to attach the magnets well
As making the full can via cnc would cost a fortune cause of their shape
Also def interested in curved magnets in order to reduce cogging
At the time when I made the direct drive didn’t have a decent size CNC plus everything that is round only by turning would be truly round. So I made the while direct drive on the lathe.
You could check MAD Fury (hub motor converted to direct drive) similar approach of Carvon model with koowheels motor.
And MAD Storm (outrunner motor to direct drive) much more work for sure but easier customization.
You can find them both here or on most on the older forum. Maybe it will clarify the idea.
One thing I would advice you from the beginning. If you don’t have CAD skills then download Fusion360. Takes some YouTube tutorial and start drawing. Without precise reference it’s all just imagination.
Yeah I know gotta learn fusion
Downloaded already but gonna states doing properly
It’s your best weapon.
