Have you heard about the Seismic Trucks with two springs? It looks similar to this design except it has two springs that support the trucks for turning
Believe it or not I am actually trying to improve a derivative version of them, although not quite it’s more of inspired by them and aims to solve multiple problems at once
Hey I just came upon this and I am definitely interested in discussing it with you and seeing if I can work with you on it, good news is I’m actually certified in and have a fair amount of experience with 3D CAD modeling programs, plus I am planning on outfitting one of my original longboards/S10 trucks to be an electric board, granted more for cruising and having fun because I love the way they feel, also addressing some things you said later in this thread I have designed my own truck that I am continuously working on that takes some inspiration from both other planet trucks, which I have actually had a chance to ride, and reverse kingpin trucks as well as channel trucks.
I’m interested in hearing more.
I’m guessing you mean about the trucks that I mentioned are a derivative version, I’m willing to bet you probably read the slightly longer post I made right under the one responding to you, I don’t want to say too much because after I finish them I am hoping to actually patent them and put them out for sale for people to actually use.
I designed them from scratch as a passion project and the final project in my tech school class, although I started working on them way earlier because the instructors saw my passion and allowed me to start on it early; I wanted to make something that is strong, very adjustable, not too expensive to produce, and uses as many things that are currently around and easy to get as possible, like current bushings/kingpins/axles and things like that so that it would make it cheaper to produce and get parts for without sacrificing quality; and ideally less trouble for me to get made and Make it so that people riding it would ideally have no issues with regular maintenance and adjustability
This may be worth looking into for you then. Pro Bono patent dealio.
It sounds very interesting. Have you figured out how you’re going to source axles? That’s often one of the more difficult and least “Over the counter” parts for making trucks, especially when wanting to use cheap and readily available components.
So I’ve actually been making trucks for a long time, and I was one of the people who helped with the product development on Other Planet trucks in the first place. IDK how much direct help I can be when you want to be careful not to spill the beans, but if you ever have any specific questions I might be any help on, feel free to reach out.
I would also encourage you to look at the HST truck.
If what you’re making is derivative off the S10, well. Hamboards has improved that design in several significant ways that are probably worth learning about. Taking advantage of the lessons learned by other people doing similar things is always a good idea, and there maybe be some applicable things for you from there.
So I actually didn’t know about that, thank you very much I’m going to be looking into that for sure
For sourcing axles I’m going to give them the option of getting 12 mm axles from MBS for the Matrix 3, or 8 mm axles from Aera, I figured that those are already well tested and liked and trusted and I’ve designed my trucks to be able to take those stock without any mods
Okay that’s really freaking cool, I don’t know how clear I made it but other planet trucks were one of my big inspirations and one of the things that I was deriving from for this design
I’m not making anything derivative off of hamboards or the S10 truck, when I mentioned that it was more like I’m just designing pulleys and things like motor mounts that would work with them so that I, and others if they were interested, could cruise on the original trucks
Oh definitely, that’s partially why I’m going for the things I am
