Ackmaniac is still solid. I’d stay there for now until you got proper advice on how to fix the issue with newer firmwares.
I just noticed that my metr pro isn’t working right now that I’m on the ackmanieak firmware. Is that a known issue?

Is there a version of the ACK firmware what works with the metr pro or do I need to try flashing the vesc to a different version of the firmware? If I’m able to flash using the st-link I would think I could just jump right to the latest firmware for the 412 hardware unless there is some issues with compatibility that cautious jumping that far forward?
Afaik, metr only works with vesc fw
Hmm ok, I had an MLT bt05 that I had used one before but I can’t seem to pair it with my phone using the factory bind code… I’m really tempted to try flashing to a different firmware so I can use the metr again… I’m just worried I’ll end up killing my vesc by using a newer firmware.
Ok for anyone still following. I just flashed my Focbox 412 to 5.03 firmware and then used the latest vesc tool to try updating firmware. To my surprise everything seemed to work great. I’m not on firmware 6.02 only time will tell if I run into any other problems. It seems the general consensus of having to make incremental jumps was accurate but I guess I didn’t find the right version of the tool to make the first jump off of 2.18

I am stuck in the same boat but don’t have access to another focbox or St-link. 
Did you solder the plug into your focbox? If you did I could mail you my stlink to use to get the esc working or if you want to mail the focbox to me I could solder the plug to your board and flash it for you

Thanks for this thread! Haven’t used my original HW4.12 FOCBOX in years and haven’t been on this forum for even longer! Happy to see a few of these OG units still floating around.
My FOCBOX had FW v2.54 (Probably Ackmaniacs) but using the latest VESC Tool (V6.02) and the “Archive” I was able to flash version 3.55. Then I flashed V5.03 and then V6.02, and everything worked perfectly!
