Bushing and Truck Setup Help Offered

I am once again in a production crunch so I will not be able to respond here quickly or fully…my apologies for the delay, it is not intentional

Aren’t RipTide bushings supposed to come with washers?

Yeah usually

Ahh damn, now I got a dozen bushings without washers…time to harass the local skate shop I guess

Our StreetSeries and large shapes such as Magnum, FatCone and Chubby come with washers but our other offerings do not

Hi,
Setup
Trucks: Caliber 2 50s Standard bushings 184mm
Wheels: TB110
Deck: Custom 33" longboard deck
Weight: 70-80kg
The trucks at the moment are quite loose. I get near speed wobbles at 15mph and I don’t feel able to go faster. I want more speed, stability but still want to be able to turn well because I will skateboarding mostly in a city.
I don’t want to change the baseplates but will if it will help significantly.

Hey Brad @RipTideSports this not related to bushings but rather tunnel risers and uhh figured I’d jus ask about it in here … :eyes:

Have you considered building angles into your tunnel risers? Maybe like +10/-10. I feel like that would kill two birds with one stone… route your wires while creating a split angle on symmetrical decks without increasing ride height ?:penguin:

Or… maybe I didn’t think this idea thru :joy::joy: anyhow thanks as usual.

OK, bac from production Armageddon so I can see some light. I will respond LIFO for the short term.

The Tunnel risers are a royal pain in the ass to make, with a high rejection rate. I might make the move to machined delrin so you can have any color you want as long as it is black. If I go that route I will look at angled versions.

As you already know, 50 degree trucks turn a lot, so you need to settle them down. Pick up two pair of KranK 90a Canons and use flat washers up front and cupped washers in the back

What’s the difference between between those 3?

Riptide WFB Pivot Cups 96a Caliber Precision Trucks
Riptide WFB Pivot Cups 96a Caliber Cast Trucks G2
Riptide WFB Pivot Cups 96a Caliber Cast Trucks

Will be used with a Caliber 2 baseplate and a Wowgo 2s truck

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I can only find Krank Barrels in my country (UK), will those work as well?

Yes, just orient the sharp edge of our Barrels towards the hangers.

@RipTideSports

update: for these baseplates

Caliber 2 pivot for caliber 2 base plates, it’s kinda self explanatory xD
Are you trying to put a wowgo hanger into that baseplate?
Are you sure the wowgo pivot/geometry is caliber 2 compatible?

Caliber II will work in Caliber I but Caliber I will not work in Caliber II since the Caliber II is shorter.

Yes i am since some people did that upgrade too.
E: now i’m unsure since the wowgo truck is a paris clone…

if you know the different caliber trucks then yes.

@RipTideSports got it. Middle one is the way to go.

great now i have 4 caliber baseplates i can’t use for that project

All good with the Savants as far as I know

Hey @RipTideSports, just stumbled on this thread and looking to stabilize my new BKB Duo for my weight and ride style. It’s running stock and you can see some photos here: BKB Duo Build. Additional info to help with the guidance…

Trucks: Caliber II clones both front and rear. 10” wide. Both measure 50 deg on the bare base plate but seems like the hanger slopes at the 44 deg mark when installed? I pinged Jarred to verify.

Bushings: Cone/Barrel 90A with cupped washers on both sides. Same in front and back. All 0.6” tall.

Wheels: 97mm and 6” AT (fine having two separate bushings configs if necessary)

Deck: 42.5” flex bamboo

Weight: 185-200lbs

Right now, if I want it stable at speed (over 15-20mph), I have to overtighten the bushings. This makes turning at slow speeds super wide and carving suck. If I properly tighten the bushings (i.e. loosen them), turning is much better but super unstable at speed. Even when turning is better, I can’t seem to hold the turn without losing balance sometimes, like the resistance actually drops at some point instead of linear or getting some push back.

I typically kiteboard (wake style) and surf, so would love to get things adjusted for that style. Water kind of has a continuous resistance. I ride around a city where sidewalks and roads aren’t the best, so I need to be agile, but still want to get some speed up occasionally without feeling out of control.

I was looking at your recommendations and maybe the FatCone boardside and Canon roadside? Or should I stick to cones and barrels? I guess Chubby is also an option too (for rear?). Thinking all 93a, unless you think a 96a needs to be in the mix.

Any help would be appreciated!
