Build In Progress | MBS Birds | MT 6396 170kv | 12s8p P26 |

Hi everyone! I’ve been collecting parts for my second build and would like to share my vision. It’s a high torque carver with bindings.

Here’s what I’ve purchased so far:

Mbs Birds deck
Mbs F5 bindings
Matrix 2 trucks
12s8p enclosure
160x50 pneumatics
175x50 pneumatics
6396 Maytech 170 kv motors
66t & 62t wheel pulleys

Kinda looks like this:

Now I need the important stuff:

12s8p 18650 (P26)
180a <= esc (DV6Pro)
Remote (VX2)
Motor pulleys (18t)

I’m pretty ok with my expectations with this build but I would like to hear what others think. Any advice you guys can offer would be great.

Let’s talk about it

Place holder 1.

Nice! If you’re up to the challenge, I’d love to see you cut a unique tip shape to shave the nose and tail down. The birds deck is awesome but I hate how snowboardy it looks. I’m assuming you went with the smaller wheels to avoid wheel bite or save some range?

I agree, the nose and tail are a bit plain. This would be a challenge that, if done successfully, would add value to this build. Im definitely aiming to design a banger.

dudes.
stoked.

Matrix II trucks add a whole new experience to esk8

do you plan on riding off road?

these clever knobby tires are nice.

I was really happy when I added wings to my comp 95.
I would definitely look into that.

and I would probably also get some 72 tooth pulleys for more torque.

I am not sure what top speed you are aiming for.
took me a bit to get used to matrix II…

oh. also if you have not bought the cells go P42a dude …

That looks so dorky with such small wheels :joy:

Hehehe :joy: I like the look of smaller wheels, especially considering width to height ratio of the wheels.

I have some 7" that look too thin…To think that MBS completes come with 8" wheels.

I’d like to run wheels with more than 50mm contact patch for sure.

I’m trying to keep weight down, and maximize power while staying low profile with this build since I’d like to jump it. I’ve already bought two enclosures before I realized 12s6p P42a would also be an optimal solution. I wonder if that pack would fit my eboosted 12s8p 18650 enclosure without top mounting the esc.

Yeah you’ll probably just need a slightly larger gasket. It’s not gonna eat into the rest of the space for the esc.

oh dude.
I did not catch that.
you are gonna bottom mount?

I am not sure I have seen that on an MBS comp

dimensions match ok?

where do you wanna ride this thing?

bottom mount and bindings are weird to me…
plenty of people do it…
just seems odd.

Yea I can’t get over how top mounted boards look. I mostly ride on streets, and only plan on light off-roading. So bottom mounted street board that can handle small jumps is the aim.

Haven’t received eboosteds enclosure yet and my last enclosure wasn’t exactly perfect. So I’ll have to wait and see what alterations if any will need to be done

hey dude What do you mean by small JUMPS? I drive a bird myself and am upgrading to 9 inch tires to get more ground clearance for jumps. If I were you, I would mount everything on the board and not underneath. I’m afraid that you could get stuck on the board due to the flex.

The picture shows 9 inch tires at the rear and 8 inch tires at the front

I think these two smaller compartments will not be able to accommodate the 21700s +5mm width.

As high as my legs will lift the board off flat ground mostly. ~1-3ft off the ground?

oh yeah thats not happening. @jack.luis fit a 16s4p p42a in there, but it required a lot of work along with a really thick gasket

I highly recommend not doing what I did

So no off-road? Then maybe it could work. I would still be a bit scared!

It can definitely fit a 12s6p P42a pack if the cells are placed vertically instead of horizontally like below, from my pov.
Edit: assuming the 160mm dimension is also true in the middle section.
