Budget Longboard Cruiser | 10s3p | Single 6374 170kv | Flipsky 4.12

Hello all. Been on this forum and Reddit and wanted to contribute back. I recently built an electric longboard with research from here and it helped me alot so I want to share with others my experience. I am an engineer and have been building drones for a few years so I do have access to alot of the tools such as 3d printer. The purpose of this build is for me to cruise around the neighborhood and to be the backup commuter if anything happens to my car.
I have been looking at building an electric scooter or skateboard for the last few years. Pulled the trigger on the eskate when I was walking through Lowe’s and they were selling a longboard for $15.

Margaritaville Longboard (Lowe’s)
6374 Motor/Flipsky 4.12 VESC/VX1 Remote (dickyho)
Motor Mount/Pulley (dickyho)
10s3p 9.6ah Battery (Aliexpress)
Flipsky AntiSpark (Aliexpress)
Battery Percent display (Aliexpress)
90mm 72a wheel (Amazon)
Charger (eBay)
DIYE Enclosure (Amazon)

My total was at $375. I printed the TPU motor cover found on thingverse.com. Using red shadowboard foam as a seal and vibration damper for the enclosure. The battery is inside a Kevlar bag inside the enclosure. The total weight of board is 15lbs

I weigh 130lbs. I have gone on two rides around the neighborhood. Last ride, I went for 2.6 miles and the battery went down 8%. This battery should be able to give me about 30 miles. I averaged 5.6 mph with max speed around 9mph using Google Fit to track. Alot of stop and go.

I am happy with the way it rides and the speed is good enough for me. No problem with hills. I though about adding a second motor but I don’t think the battery can handle it.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome Good looking build, the attention to detail is evident.

That is all that matters.

Love to see the budget builds. Always surprising how much speed you can get on a single 6374

Would make a killing selling a budget belt drive board with this performance for this price to the masses

Nicely done, and especially given the budget. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you all. The board does have a limit. I had a friend that weighs about 230lbs and with a slight incline in his neighborhood, the board would not move at all.

It’s nice to see a well made budget build on the forum. Most builds look like super expensive power monsters #longlivetupperware

What do you think about the battery? And can you send the link for it?
Thx

It’s from the great strong well informed QC corner of the world, AliExpress.
Not where most would go for a battery.

Yup. The battery is from Aliexpress. AERDU 36V 9.6Ah 10Ah 600watt. I think the build of battery is decent. It gets me going but might not have enough power for a dual motor or a heavier person. But for $71, it was worth it. There is another build on here that uses the same battery. I probally would buy it again. For safety measure, I placed it in large Kevlar bags that I used to charge my rc lipo batteries.
