Budget helmets....I know I know

Are these certifications not good enough for Ruroc? I agree with the limited visibility, especially with the goggles, though.

“Snow, Skate & Cycle approved. (EN1077A, EN1078, ASTM F2040)”

+1 for the s1 retro lifer. Feels super comfy then again I don’t have too much experience with other helmets but still I love mine. Also I wear mine with a ski mask on it which some may argue visibility I’d impaired but having a tinted one for sunny days is nice and the looks are a plus.

Tsg is on my list for this year. What’s the difference between regular and the pass?

@eBoosted just posted this photo of a Steelbird SBA 2 and it’s like $70 which is ridiculously cheap, I have no idea why

What size did you get? And how big is your head

(Lack of) Certification.

Rated in some Indian certification for their motorcycle. Ernesto uses one and even had a pretty big crash with it. Who knows how well made they really are though

TLD makes some pretty reasonable helmets that were cheaper than ruroc. Also you don’t have to have aspirations to be a storm trooper to buy one.

This survived a 45mph slide crash and a mid 20s side bounce with no damage.

Because this is how they test helmets: https://youtu.be/ZSWkgJUC3GU?t=2001

Versus a legitimate test, for example the ASTM F1952 downhill mountain bike impact test (Zero Gravity Vector): https://youtu.be/mKGQYTqMgSU?t=256

Demand the test data!

If you’re going to get a motorcycle helmet, at least get an ECE or Snell certified helmet.
If you’re going to get a full-face helmet, at least get the downhill mountain bike certification (Triple 8 Racer, TSG Pass, or Zero Gravity Vector if you can find one).
If you only want a half-shell, get one that’s bike and skate rated: https://helmets.org/dualcert.htm

I got the medium, my head is 68cm of circumference.

I can’t find the M6 in stock anywhere, including zgskate.com. Sickboards.nl has M5’s, but limited colours and sizes.

Are these even being produced anymore? Why doesn’t the manufacturer have stock of either the M5 or M6?

$17.99?!! insanely cheap price. Is this budget enough for anyone? Looks intimidating too!

I read that ISI certifications in india typically fall well well short of other international helmet standards

Exactly. When I click that link I see Shoei’s for $25. You don’t think that’s just a little sus?

I don’t think Zero Gravity Skate is manufacturing helmets now. I tried to buy one a year ago, emailed them and didn’t get a response.
Triple 8 Racer and TSG Pass have the same rating and appear to be as good.
