Big endorsement of M1s. These things are tough as nails. I’ve probably put about 500 miles on them, but yesterday they showed their mettle.
Going around a car I found this pothole, far too late to avoid it.
Tried to ride it out, but my left rear gear casing slammed that sharp front edge. The hit was hard enough to cause the trucks to flex so much that opposite corner wheelbite was achieved - something I’ve never done in normal riding.
I went flying. Hit my noggin pretty good on the pavement, but helmet did its job. Went to get back riding, but left rear of board sounded terrible. Figured either motor magnet came loose or one of the gears had chipped.
Opened it up today to find neither. The hit merely knocked my motor off of its mounting position, setting the backlash too wide. I reset backlash and everything sounds good as new.
These gears are as tough as nails. Don’t think I would have been so lucky if both the case and gears weren’t made of steel. Great work Kevin!
