Boardnamics M1-AT Drive | Helical Steel MTB/AT Gear Drive

Stripped one on each side… goddamn. So frustrating.

hi, kevin still waiting a reply from you thanks

Buy some shiny class 12.9 before you put anything back together, they are so nice

Welp, tried 2 different screw extractor kits from Home Depot and neither one could grab onto the screw hard enough to break the loctite.

Anyone have any advice? I can’t think of any other solution besides cutting a notch for a flathead, which I didn’t want to have to do.

If thats the last screw you can take the drive off as a whole and rotate the adapter around the pivot of the screw if that makes sense.

Edit: looks like it rotates freely as in the screw is not tightened down, just loctited. My b

Drill the head off it and remove the nub with vice grips

you can take another bolt or any pieces of metal that can fit in the hole then do a spot weld and then you can unscrew the original flat head bolt , l

no welder unfortunately

you can ask to a mecanic if he know what he’s doing you need to use low heat setting to not melting the aluminium around

Maybe try a small sharp sharp hardened center punch on the outer part of the screw. Try holding the punch straight on till it digs in a bit to give it something to bite onto then angle the chisel and tap it loose. Don’t have this drive and not sure if tapping it with a center punch would damage it though. Sometimes just shocking it can help free bolts up also. Good luck!

This works every time

what do y’all use to drill the head off?

Unless you don’t have enough nub, or the nub has been compromised… say, by trying to use an extractor

I fucking hate those screw extractors. They’ve never worked for me.

Torx bit has worked every time for me tho.

You wanna use a bit just slightly oversized of the shaft of the screw.

Those bolts are m4 iirc, i’d use a 5mm bit.

yeah tbh idk if there’s even enough nub to grab sadly

did you try to heat up with a torch and i use a punch and hammer and then use a torx bit at the same time
