Boardnamics M1-AT Drive | Helical Steel MTB/AT Gear Drive

Has anyone had any issues getting these on the regular Matrix II trucks? I’ve seen people comment on issues getting it on the Oil Slick version but I can’t get one side to fit. Are the tolerances on the MBS stuff that out of wack that one side of the hanger is larger than the other? I’m assuming I’ll just have to file it down some but just wanted to ask to see if I’m missing something.

Yes. I sanded down both sides of my oil slicks and one side I still had to use an arbor press to get the adapter on. The drives run great, but using them on matrix 2s could require some patience to get them setup.

Yes lol

Unfortunately, there is no good tolerance to pick and Kevin picked the closest one he could to fit and still be tight. Filing can be required at times

anybody got a bullbar solution for BN drives/motors? idk where to even begin

You can use a motor mount clamp to secure some custom stuff, but I don’t think there’s a commercial solution yet

Hmm doesn’t exist as of yet.

I suppose one could use the three screws on the rear of each of them, idk how that would look though

are these drives normally pretty rattly? feels like I’m getting quite a bit of noise when going over rough spots in the road/sidewalk cracks etc

If you can move them by hand, there is an assembly issue. The wheel nut tightened and the right spacer is integral to smooth operation.

move them by hand meaning lateral movement of the whole wheel? there’s hardly any play, so I don’t think that’s it. && do you mean the spacer in the wheel hub or another spacer within the gear box?

Did you want something for the front or back of your board?

back, ideally… for the front I just used a universal bike bar

On McMaster you can get a 225mm M6 internal threaded coupling rod, get the matching M6 bolts and that will fit perfectly onto the motor mounts

Using MBS Metal Mateix 2. I have the exact same issue. Both sides are too tight.

I heard filing is the solution? Can anyone elaborate what this means? What tools am I using and what am I filing? Pictures would help too.

Thank you!

Are the hangers painted or powder coated? If it’s paint you can dip it in paint stripper (measure the line the clamp will stop at, and tape off above there) and it might be a better fit

They are these trucks.

Yeah Matrix II, but are they painted or powder coated?

They appear to be painted but I’m deffo not sure.

Try get the clamp on and note the areas on the hanger where it is tight. Use a small file and carefully remove material from the clamp in the corresponding areas

Just to confirm

  1. I’m removing material from the truck. Selectively trying to minimize the filing?
  2. Got recommendations for file? There seems to be a lot of options. Single, double cut etc?

Personally i’d remove the material from the clamp. Clamps are cheaper to replace than hangers if you fuck it up.

Try get a multi pack of cheap files with different shapes
