Boardnamics M1-AT Drive | Helical Steel MTB/AT Gear Drive

My new steel wheel adapter holes are too small. No big deal to drill out to fit the included M4 bolts, but just an fyi if the whole batch is like this.

if it’s struggling to go on, line the holes and use the nut to drive it in
it’s a tight fit, but it’s vetter than having it rock about

Well, at the risk of ruining the threads of the m4 bolts, I took your advice and pressed them into the wholes the rest of the by tightening the axel bolt. It worked, so thanks for the tip. I’ll deal with any bolt damage the next time I need to remove the wheel, but everything looks great and runs great!

tfw u GD&T ur close tolerance slightly too close

Near impossible to implement perfect GD and T without knowing any tolerance information on the hub’s bolt holes.

Yeah it’s a bad tol stack to be fair

I had to drill my plates out too and I had those made at a local metal shop

Finishing up assembly and have had the wheels on and off a few times. It takes the wheel nut to get the hub bolts into the adapter holes, but they can be removed by hand with thumbs between the hub spokes against the adapter. Haven’t noticed any damage to the bolt threads.

Yes, the fit is quite close. It will vary depending several tolerances. The wheel will not fit effortlessly for most, but they won’t break so there’s that :stuck_out_tongue:
The holes are 3.91-3.95. The included M4 screws are about 3.88-3.90. Inevitable positioning error creates some interference.

It definitely felt crunchy going in the first time, but no visible damage to the threads and they can be removed by hand so can’t ask for better tolerances.

Tighter fit means the plate lasts longer

Am I missing parts? I can’t tighten the axle nut far enough for the wheel to be secure, I’m using the spacers that come with the drivetrain

Also do the motors not come with short shafts anymore?

Seems like you need some sort of bushing between the truck and wheel.

you shooooould have that extra spacer for between the wheel and nut, but you can really have anything, washers, an inner bearing race, whatever

i mean, lest you’re using springs or something i hope you got bushings on, can’t ride otherwise!

I don’t think we’re on the same page. :joy:

(hint, bushing is not the word you’re searching for)
