Snow is a beast. I can highly recommend dual diagonal but NOT dual rear wheel drive or single drive.
It will as long as you dont submerge it or ride in deep puddles and clean it after wet rides.
Awesome thanks for the reassurance!
Any idea if anyone has modeled up a 3d printable nose/tail guard yet? I would love to be able to make a set if someone has. I’m gonna get some of those universal ones if I need to. Dont want to mess up my nose/tail right away
Also, I saw on your Instagram that you mentioned you’ll have some tutorial videos at some point. Will that include board/gear drive maintenance videos? And info like what type of loctite you’re using and where you use it?
that’s pretty cool. i love that.
I would probably design a 3D printed nose handle and tail guard as it would be a very heavy board.
It is convenient to use the nose handle to move the board by rolling the wheels like a carry case.
However, since the nose handle interferes with the front motor cable, it will be dedicated to 2wd.
Can recommend @LEE 's work. He made me some bashguards and handles with integrated mounts for shredlights. Really strong and they’ve easily been the best accessorie for my Thorium.
@LEE For sure. I’m getting a 4WD though, so I was hoping for something like what was made for the last gen thorium, like what @amanuelamanuel has on the back of his board.
How exactly does it interfere with the front motor cables? Can’t you just put the bash guard between the cable riser and the board and everything will be fine? I haven’t worked with any of this myself, so I feel like I must be missing something. Is it the integrated shredlight mounts that get it the way of the cables? I can just use the regular shredlight mounts if that’s the case.
Lights will be installed under the cable.
Designs that avoid cables may be possible.
The Lights interferes with the cable when the mount is installed between the deck and the riser pad.
Installed a regular mount between the upper riser pad and the lower riser pad, the light will probably face up.
This is because the upper riser pad is probably an angle riser.
The light mount and handle are expected to have an integrated design to keep the light horizontal while avoiding cables.
I will start designing as soon as plutonium arrives at me.
If the front riser pad is a non-angle tunnel riser, I think you can use a normal light mount.
He’s not using angled risers on the plutonium, so it’ll be flat. I was just gonna install the provided metal shredlight mounts on the very bottom of the board, underneath the baseplate (last thing on before the washer and nut). So then could something like what you made work with just a handle and no shredlight mounts? Or would you still be able to integrate shredlight mounts?
I consider both the handle alone, which uses only the included metal mount, and the integrated handle and light mount.
Looking at some plutonium images, it’s likely that you will adopt an integrated design for now.
Although integrated, the handle and light mount are separate parts that are screwed together.
I’m going to design it so that the light mount can be removed with screws.
Il send you guys nose/tail size drawing later today so you can test make something if you want.
Awesome, I’ll definitely pick one up from you then. I’ll have shredlights on the front and back so it’ll be cool to have something that integrates a handle/bash guard. Good stuff
Sorry if this has been answered already (couldn’t find it), but when are these boards shipping? I had a rough morning because I was forced to cycle to work (all of my DIY boards are waiting for parts), which has me in an impulse purchasing mood.
The first orders have been delayed for some time. But in around 4 weeks we will start shipping. If you order today its around 8 weeks
My plan is using plutonium deck and make a @longhairedboy clone Evo Falcon 40" Blackout With Green Accents 2wd setup
Send me the deck and i can skin it exactly like that for you if you want.
