Best value mini board?

Yeah I had a Wowgo Mini for a couple years but I abused it to death so it was time for a new one.
Haha I wouldn’t dare to leave a board anywhere in Gothenburg pretty much and I’d rather just have a board I can carry with one hand when going to friends and such with stairs and without elevators.

haha the battery really isn’t that big, just a very big box for it.
It’s a 12s6p P42A but I have had some issues with the board because I haven’t been able to connect the motor sensors and the VESC also seems to have a life of it’s own since it’s happened a few times when I break that it goes forward

Hopefully I can use quite a lot of of stuff from it to build a new one next year or so.

I’m a bit off topic but I just don’t even lock it lol. If it’s the supermarket near me I just wheel it in the door and leave it near the shopping trolleys or the area you can rebag your own groceries after checkout, if it’s a small shop in the city I’ll either just drag it or leave it somewhere near the door if there’s a spot out of the way. Anyone who tries to skate away with it isn’t getting far if I have the remote, and I reckon anyone who picked it up would be freaked if the wheels started spinning. Plus they’re on CCTV, they’re not gonna bother

Back on topic a bit though:

Sounds like a good plan IMO, belts are great but hubs have their place

After riding it for a bit (I have the belt version). The stock bushings on them are just God awful, swap the bushings and it feels really good.

There is a rattling noise coming from the rear, but if you’re getting the hub version it’ll be a non-issue.

The break lights are nice, but can’t see them during the day. At night they’re useful to let others know you’re there so you don’t get run over.

Wheels are ok but not all that great, I don’t usually ride urathane wheels so don’t have much to compare to.

Kicktail is a nice to have, but because of the weight distribution of it, it’s a bit difficult to lift the front. It’s a bit of a heavy short board, harrying it will get tiring after some time.

All in all, it’s a great errand board. I use it to go from home to office (1mile) where I keep the big boiz.

Oh hellll no. Every board comes with me inside, no matter what, no excuses. If staff bitches I’ll go to a different store (which hasn’t happened once in my 6 years of esk8) staff were even asking questions about it, so all good.

Yeah I used to trolly it around. But the store nearby is stupidly tiny and cramped up so it is a pain for that reason.

But yeah wheeling it around isn’t that bad in most cases. But it sure is a bit nicer to not have to deal with it.

Yo @VodkaMan I saw your video with Dkwan, didn’t realise you were the henchman he had been referring to the last few months

Can I ask why you didn’t mention any of the lies about battery capacity and the fact that while they’re technically using molicel cells, they’re an old and low performance model?

So is this what they said they use on the 216 Wh board? https://www.molicel.com/wp-content/uploads/DM_INR18650A-V4-80078.pdf

Yup those are the ones

Due to our feedback they removed the AH on their website. We were like wtf because their reasoning was in their previous board it was 10s 8.4ah, so for the 12s mini 2 they just did 8.4 x 1.2 = 10.1ah for a 10s equivalent. (I did have this part in the script but since they changed it, it wasn’t necessary anymore)

As for the batty cell type tho, imo using either p42a or M42a won’t be a massive different because the hobbywing ESC model they have can’t even suck that much power. So I thought giving the range is a better metric.

I was watching this guy do a teardown on the tynee mini and it clearly shows m42 20700 jingnoo new energy pack but claimed 10ah. Then he replied saying he got it wrong and it was m50 cells or something? Someone is up to onsra tricks lol. Pretty sure my jingnoo 6ah pack had fake 30q cells at 4.4ah. print was all wrong. So god knows whats really in these cell wise.

Yeah that “10.1Ah” is as I said above; to compare a 12S pack to a 10S pack using just Ah they multiply the 8.4 X 1.2 to get their 10.1. But obviously it’s nonsense, just don’t compare using Ah or rely on the consumer to know how voltage works. Use Wh FFS

But TBF the numbers do check out for M42, aside from marketing BS

I dont know if they are affiliated just seemed odd he tried back stepping and saying he made a mistake and it was m50a cells. Maybe he just plucked the most obvious answer.

A lot of “reviews” rely on free products that they won’t get unless their review is more or less a puff piece. TBH the state of youtube reviews right now is such that more of them are untrustworthy than trustworthy and should basically be viewed as sponsored “influencer” ads. I’d only trust reviews from a source you really know. That said I know nothing about that source and I could be wrong, but my assumption would be it’s basically that.

Edit: Also I don’t know if there is an ad in there as I didn’t watch the whole thing, but the video is even tagged as having paid promotion and has a little popup at the beginning. It may be a straight-up sponsored ad.

Yeah the only videos i use to choose are ones that show brand new dead on arrival boards lol.

I took an aeboard apart and its like no one at the company has any clue. 16g wire throughout. No motor protection can. No protection for the battery wires over flex points.

I can see why people decide to build their own.

after my missus started showing interest in my diy build I’ve ordered her a belt drive mini 2 with the bigger battery.

Her main request was she wanted something small and lighter to handle than my tank of a mountain board.

Ownboard M1 mini belt drive with the 8.0 (288Wh) battery. Comes with kegel pulley. 10S but it’s great for the average rider who wants a mini. Been ridin mine around for a long while now, with a Caliber II 50deg truck on the front and a Caliber II 43deg baseplate in the rear, removed one shock pad to get it lower (has 3 thin shock pads so kept 2 per truck).

With 85mm blue cags it’s a joy to thrash around, especially with the lower angle baseplate. Worth trying the Raked Caliber III on the front in 50deg if you want even more turn.
