Best last-mile PEV for rainy days – esk8?

This sounds really awesome, but you can remove the handlebars and then not have to worry about folding stuff.

I’ve used the Limitless for about 5 year and it was amazing as a backpack, and was able to hold a 12s4p switchlade in a pinch.

True, but need a board with big wheels, even my 9" wasn’t a comfortable experience to do daily in some section

What about a small to medium electric unicycle?

Just chiming in, i built a lightweight onewheel for commuting.

I work at a big fucking airport, they make us park almost a mile from the entrance.
They make us ride a bus to/from the employee lot to the main terminal.

I’ve been thrown up on, fallen on, tripped into, the list goes on. So i don’t like riding the employee bus that much.

I built a vesc onewheel with pint rim, stock plastic controller and battery box with an 18s1p battery. It doesn’t weigh as much as other onewheels,
i put a baggage strap on it and carry it like a man purse!

I carry this into an international Airport daily without any issues. It’s a great way to get where you are going, you can seal it up with silicone and it’ll be pretty waterproof. You might have to redo the silicone every couple months, but it’ll work

I was thinking of doing this for quick runs to home depot or best buy. Something small that doesnt weigh much.

Oh yeah. The new little one is killer looking.
All the goodness of the onewheel… And more.
And you don’t have to pick it up. Just push like a suitcase.

The Begode Falcon is another option.
You could buy today…

One the thing to be said about onewheels.

I think They are the least intimidating PEV around.
You can roll on them very near people. At a walking pace, without freaking people out.
Totally silent…

I ride into a few stores and it’s cool.

Rode it inside the kids gym at a birthday party the other day…

Seems sketchy on speeds he intends to ride, especially in the wet.

High speeds when wet is bad. No matter the vehicle.

I’ve always been wary of vehicles that rely on the gyroscopic effect to stay upright, hence me getting into eskates for my last mile commutes.

Me encountering oblivious, slow-walking women blocking my way yesterday just affirmed that and made me glad I’m on four wheels. Granted a onewheel type of vehicle would work but that’s because of its contact patch.

And before someone says “skill issue,” I don’t want to have to be an MMA champion just to be able to stay safe while walking home at night either.

Man I was wondering why that scooter looked so big in that picture… It’s because I have the s2 lite

It fit a switchblade???

This one? Or something else?

Nope, the OSUZA Limitless. I linked their website earlier.

Their new duffel/rollable/flat bag looks like it can fully enclose a small board.

Here’s my lightweight build.

Esk8 with integrated deck, hubs and 3D-printed mudguards:

pros:

  • fits in alter backpack
  • somewhat lightweight (compared to a OW or MTB)
  • no wet feet
  • no need to lock up
  • look super cool as you arrive on date

cons:

  • no perfect hair for first dates (unless limited to 20kp/h and no helmet)
  • still somewhat heavy (had it on my back for a date, wouldn’t recommend walking 15km with it)
  • small wheels not good for potholes
  • bad traction in the rain (maybe get harfang type wheels?)
more pics of the mudguards:

Oh, and about Onewheels:
they are too heavy (yes, even a pint) and super shitty to carry (don’t fit in backpack). Otherwise, probably better traction in wet and better with bad roads.

Total gimmick, not any more grippy than straight thanes.
