I want to work for the community full time! If you feel what I do is worth a couple dollars a month and you would like early access to battery availability, battery and charger testing and news, and a say in what I test, then please consider becoming a patron and supporting my testing efforts: Battery Mooch is creating battery and device tests | Patreon.

These tests only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for these batteries at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They should never be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Damn Molicel is really leading the cylindrical cell market here. There were competitive options for the P42A but I can’t tell what else out there could compete with this P45B. Looking like the real new hotness of cells. I hope retailers can keep these in stock long enough for my broke ass to get a bunch.

Average day in OnyxAF

You joke but Amorge is picking up more and more steam as a Chinese battery builder and I’d like to validate their claims to protect others.

I was told a while ago by someone who should know that only “Grade A” Molicels have the QR-type code box and that lower grade cells do not. I do not know if “A3” is a grade or some other designator.

I’d be happy to test the “A3” cells though if someone sent me a pair. I suspect that, if they really are just a lower A grade, that their performance is pretty close to the “Grade A” cells.

But if they do have a wide range of self-discharge rates then, as said in that post, they aren’t as good a choice for higher voltage packs as the BMS has to work harder with cells that have high or very different self-discharge rates.
