So I would never suggest excessive drinking combined with riding these death machines. That’s a great way to end up in a hospital bed, but I can’t be the only beer nerd here that responsibly enjoys a cold one or two on a run. Favorite beer on my favorite board. Double Dank Shake. It’s a collaboration between Alvarado Street Brewing and Great Notion Brewing. Only releases for 4-20 every year. It’s a double IPA brewed with terpines (flavor) from the cannabis strain Northern Lights. They brew it with lactose (milk) sugar, which is not fermentable for brewers yeast. This leaves a crazy weed milkshake flavor with the perfect blend of hops. You can only order one case per household. Not available for order yet but I happened to stop by the only spot in the county that sells ABS beer and they had it on the shelf! This one’s higher ABV than I would normally bring on a ride clocking in at 8.5% in a 16oz can, but plenty of water and didn’t even catch a buzz. Just sipped and enjoyed the view.
Looks like that brewery makes a lot of good stuff. Can’t find any site that will ship to CA though. Want to be beer pals? Used to have one on the east Coast back in the day. Shipping beer across state lines can be questionably legal but there aren’t any laws against shipping “yeast samples”.
Today it was Sierra Nevada Hop Tropical IPA. Nothing special, just a good go to for a lighter beer on a run. First time back at Point Sal this year too. Fucking beautiful out there right now.
