So I’m running abec 97mm on eLofty direct drive. When I hand turn one of the motors, it makes an audible “tok tok tok” sound as you turn, it repeats if you try to drag the motor on the floor as well and while riding.
The wheel is on abec core adapter and appears when the nut is tightened, it stops happening when you loosen the nut, but at that point I’m not sure if the nut is secure enough or there is no slop on the wheel it self. It takes like half turn from tight for it to stop the noise.
Anyone have any idea what cause that noise? Is the wheel not on the adapter correctly, or I need new bearings?
If you’re sure the motor nut on the axle is butt-assed tight, see if you can rock the motor on the axle… use you’re big boy man strength really try and move the end near where the wheel would be… NOT parallel to the axle try and move it perpendicular to the axle…
If it rocks, even slightly the motor is rocking on the axle and wearing out your stator shaft.
if it does not rock, your motor and your axle are not centered…
tightening the wheel nut tight causes a misalignment on the inner wheel bearing seat and the hub adapter as the two rotate they’re not concentric and they tic-tic.tic just as you mention.
