Does self-discharge of lithium ion cells fully reveal the cell’s health? Does a cell’s self-discharge mirror capacity loss in general and output ability?

If I balanced a bunch of cells, and discovered a cell with high self discharge, I certainly would not put it in series or parallel with any other cell.
That said, I’ve had well aged cells without high self discharge, that got disgustingly hot when charging at a slow rate, and removed those from service despite their ability to hold 4.15v for a week, and power a flashlight for a respectable amount of time.
