Asking for a friend

So. I have a working Diyeboards kit. the 10s5p with the 5055 270 kv motors.

It has lived most of it’s life in a shelf.

Question?

Has anyone tried that ESC with 6354 190kv motors?

Will it work? Will it not be horrible?

Last time I tried to get the kit going I did 12/40t on 97 mm wheels and the acceleration and range were not like totally fucking horrible…

But the breaking was totally fucking horrible.

So I went and bought more parts and the kit went back on the shelf…

Can I somehow get magically good performance just by changing the motors and messing with the gearing???

I can’t find a link for the ESC itselt on their site.

Here is the link for the kit.

Also how the fuck is is these motherfuckers are still in business?

@BuildKitBoards Jared. Where were you two years ago with that awesome kit when I needed you man…

So many memories seeing this kit. I burned up my xt60 it melted to my battery pack

They are in existence because there are a lot of dumb motherfuckers out there, and there were even more back then, and there will be even more in the future…that’s just how it works

That ESC is good for about 1300W max at 10s, or about 30a…so you can run any motor you want (assuming it will detect, so it needs to be as close to 270kv as possible) but it will only let 30a go to those motors. Something in the 5055 range will pull something like that which is why they are used, you can put a bigger motor in but the only benefit is it will run cooler since there is more surface area to dissipate heat (there is a weird curve function, some sizes and currents retain more heat due to poor thermal conductance) and it will have more heat capacity so it’ll overheat later…I think it’ll accelerate and break slightly better with a larger diameter motor since the same power goes generates torque more efficiently but it will not be worlds different really

I ran a similar esc on 10s dual 6355 190kv with no issues, the sharp braking can be softened a bit if you play around with the gearing - I used 18/36 to get usable brakes, no hills so not really sure how the torque went, but it was still pretty quick.

I think your best bet to use this kit is to buy 2x fsesc 4.12 for 50$ each. Or a new upgraded meepo style esc
