Can motor detection be done with canbus connected to another vesc.? (Dual drive)

I lose vesc settings every time I disconnect motors

currently my board won’t go full throttle and is in the VESC app shows 15% duty and .5 amps.

@yelnats8j @mmaner @LR-designs

I’m going to guess it has something to do with losing track of pole position

I always have to do a redetect if I unplug phase wiring. One of those annoying little foibles you have to put up with. Make sure they are double shrink tubed because losing a connection on the fly is not something you ever want to happen. Ask me how I know…

Does anyone know what’s going on here? The motor is not running correctly. There is a huge difference between the motor voltages (bad motor is lower). And it looks like the motor is set as sensorless. When I change it back to sensored it switches automatically back to sensorless. If I switch the motors the issue still happens with motor 2 on the unity, so its not an issue with the sensor or the sensor wires.

It’s my 4th year as a diy eskater. Weird I haven’t heard about this before today.

The further into this I get the more convinced I am that I know fuck all. :laughing:

I’m the direct opposite of that :joy:

@Dareno
If you put the plug the phase wires in the exact same position then no redetect is required.
If you are being sloppy and just plug them in the first hole you find then a redetect is the least of your worries :wink:
