Yeah these aren’t for you bud. We will cook something up for you though don’t you worry…
Heck yeah
Maybe they’ll be a highly reinforced rendition called like “Apex Rhino” trucks or something
Super angular and strong enough to grind on and jump with
For grinding I would take the cheapest shit i find and buy a bunch. I am pretty sure after sometime of grinding wide trucks like that, it will end up with cracks or bends whatever the quality of the trucks.
FFS, NO NO no.
Cheap trucks will land you in the hospital if your trying to street skate.
They will break and break you in the process.
Matrix II are grantable and are tuff enough to do this. Have not bent any hangers in over a year of
bashing my trucks into curbs, rails, ledges, etc.
What we would need is a truck that is TUFF as possible with replaceable grind plates.
These plates can then be made of different materials allowing to grind better on surfaces without waxing.
Since not everyone will want to grind a expensive truck, Make the grind part replaceable.
Then you can keep your expensive truck new and only ruin the grind plates.
These plates could also be used to block wheel pulleys from hitting ledges etc on a grind.
From my experience the motor mounts prevent the rubbing of the wheel pulley but believe
an adaptor plate could also prevent this better.
Just what I was thinking. Maybe some CAD capable individual can design some TPU or similar grind plates that can also take up some of the shock
Its not going to work if its plastic of any type.
200lbs slamming into a grind would break most plastics or nylons.
We will need some kinda metal. I do think we could prototype ideas this way though.
I stand by what I said, I used to street skate and there was no truck we got our hands on that we were not able to break. I say when grinding or jumping you should always expect shit to break, because it will. That being said it was a couple decades ago maybe shit has changed since.
I still street skate, well over 15 years now.
I have bent hangers etc, but Im not going to buy the cheapest Walmart plastic trucks.
Makes no sense at all. Why use cheap parts knowing it will fail on you rather than a part
that might be able to land it?
I would not jump a 10 stair with cheap trucks. I know its going to end badly.
Does that now make sense to you?..
Easy enough to design a poly insert into the “air” part of the truck to act as a replaceable grind surface…
First off, Sorry I didn’t even include plastic trucks in my mind those don’t even exist.
In the example of street skating, wouldn’t you agree that a 30-40$ would grind as well as a pair of over 100$ trucks?
I wouldn’t spend 500$ for a pair of trucks and use them for the purpose of grinding some rails or curbs, that doesn’t make sense to me.
Maybe…
@ApexBoards you guys said the trucks will be shipping closer to the 15th, right?
And we are out of stock on the trucks! Thank you for all the support guys! Means a lot!
Bear with is whilst we sort a few details out and we will get everything shipped ASAP
If you ordered a Xenith then we aren’t going to receive them until Thursday next week, boxes are here but we are just waiting for some more axel spacers and a few other bits to come.
We cant wait for you guys to ride these!
Yes and no, the kingpin is in an area that causes hangups for street skating.
So the Air would need to recess the kingpin or cover it in a way that the hanger is flush
from end to end.
The kingpin is really the only thing preventing these from grinding currently.
I would have already bought a set but that pin is going to send me more so than not.
I think if esk8, of motocross not typical skateboarding or I would agree.
So some of us need and or want to have well built parts that can take extreme riding.
Depending on what we are doing, I would think we need gear to support that.
Parts, Decks, Pads, etc.
Esk8 and Emtb are a next level of skateboarding. I can compare but its apples and oranges.
Most push boards dont weight that much, so truck etc dont need to be as tuff.
Esk8 is heavier like motocross imo and needs well, better made parts.
The cost is high due to us all being in a niche scene currently.
We will break this bubble eventually, and allowing us to grind is important to the growth of
esk8 as a whole to me. We need board that can push our limits, not be limited to what the board
will allow us to do.
Whilst I agree… we have had 3 people ask us if they can grind and we just sold out of our first batch. It’s not something we factored into the deign brief to be totally honest. I think if you want to do that sort of stuff there are already fantastic choices like the Matrix 2. Our trucks are more specific and personally I’d rather have a setup for the park and a setup for general free ride off road stuff myself. Could see a nice park setup with some small lipos and M2’s on a bro or birds deck etc.
For what these were designed for we think they rock. We may make some changes down the line to facilitate grinding, or we may make an entirely different truck etc. We are on a specific design path in general with its own brief and we are just selling our components as we go.
Zach you are a very talented rider and we would love to see our equipment under your feet bro, I hope one day we can make that happen!
I think I got the last set
I’m going to attempt to design an insert to allow grinding (@RipTideSports)
Im in full support of your current work and whats to come!
Its been a pleasure watching you grow and expand on the sport/hobby/art.
Yeah your support is duly noted and massively appreciated dude. Same for everyone that’s been cheering us on - it means a lot to us
@DEEIF you did indeed bag the last set.
Only 2 Predator completes left and we are done
